    Hi there,

I’m setting up a booking calendar for paid tours of a city given by a travel company. What’s unique about the tours is that they are all initiated by the users themselves. I’m looking for the following functionality and have done a lot of reading on your site. Curious if you have a recommended package that can help make sure I’m not missing anything to meet these needs:

    – Users can book tours themselves (okay, so Community Events has us covered there…)
    – When uses go to book a tour, they can see which tours are available for that day, probably via some sort of drop-down
    – In that dropdown, the default will be all tours, but if, for example, the admins know only one guide is available for a certain day day, the admins may need to in the back end limit the dropdown list of tours available for that day to be just for the first tour that was booked, so that future users to the calendar can only choose that one tour for the day)
    – Users can see who is the guide for the tour they booked (either this can be entered by admins once a tour is happening, or we can associate different guides with different days by default, perhaps, or both)
    – Users can see how many spots are open for a tour that has been booked (is there a default number in the back end we could set so that as people book a tour and then others buy tickets, this is reflected in the front-end? which leads me to…)
    – Do you have a recommended ticket purchasing plugin to integrate with community events that can accomplish the functionality above?
    – When a user either looks at a tour that has been booked on the calendar or goes to book a tour themselves for the first time, there’s a pretty obvious “book now” button right there.
    – Finally—this one’s a little tricky-ideally there is a minimum of two people per tour. So if I book one myself and I am the only person, is there a way to either send a notification telling me I’ll have to pay the price of two if others don’t sign up or to make this tour a little different visually to notify other uses that it’s “pending” and needs more people to make it happen?

Thanks for your patience as I know these functionalities seem to exist across many of your products. Based on this particular set of needs I would really love your advice as to what combo will work best, if there are any limitations, and if you have any particular examples of something out there doing exactly this today.

I am thinking I need some combo of Community Events on Personal Events Pro ($89), and a payment feature.

    Thanks in advance!

To follow up, as far as the ticketing functionality goes – I guess I’m confused as to how much manual admin work may be required.

For example, if I’m a user booking a tour, and I set up a tour for a certain day, can I book directly from the webpage? In other words, can we create templates in the back end for each tour, so that when they select a tour from the drop-down for the time and date they want, they are automatically prompted with the price of tickets for that particular tour and can select the number of tickets from a default number available as part of the template? Or does the admin need to create the ticket info each time a tour is booked?

Also, I am assuming WooCommerce Tickets (which looks best at this point) does not require a woocommerce theme or anything else and can operate on any WP theme.

    Thanks again!

    Hi Amy,

I read through your list of requirements it sounds like an interesting project!

It could be possible to get those features you need for the project, but not without a major customization.

I think our plugins can get you about 25% of the way, but beyond that we are not able to help out much.

We have Community Events that enables people to submit events and if they have an account they can come back and make changes too.

WooCommerce Tickets, does not require a WooCommerce theme, but all tickets are created in the admin in the events themselves. We currently have no features to create events on the front end and all tickets for each event are manually created.

Events Calendar Pro adds all our widgets, additional fields, and Recurring Events.

You can see all the features we have on our demo site:

Let me know if you have any follow up questions.

    Thanks
