ParticipantHello all,
We just ran across an interesting issue that we simply didn’t notice before. Sporadically, when a user submits an event using event submission form the organizer is set as a ‘draft’ on the back end and not attached to the event. The email notification to the admin shows the correct organizer, but we then have to go in and manually publish the organizer and then go in to the event and attach the organizer to the event.
We have roughly 40 event organizers dating back to 9/10/15 and the earliest version of one being set as draft if 9/28/15 – not sure if that helps you or not. I will note that 4 of the last 5 submissions have all gone in to draft form and a few that aren’t in draft for I know were manually created by an admin, so it would be unrelated to the event submission form.
Any thoughts?
Thanks in advance.
Matt

ParticipantHey Matt,
This is an odd issue – it sounds like it could be a bug. I was not able to reproduce this behavior right off the bat on my testing site, so far now can you share your system information with us? Here’s how to do that → https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/sharing-sys-info/
That information will help us in trying to recreate this issue.
Thanks!

ParticipantThanks so much for this information @Ryan!
I don’t encounter this issue on my site when I try submitting an event, so I’m wondering if you’d be able to test deactivating all of your non-Tribe plugins and then trying to submit an event again – does the issue persist?
Thanks for your patience here – trying to get to the bottom of this, as it could be a bug. Right now it does not appear to be, and appears instead to be a code conflict.

ParticipantHey George,
I will give that a try but I need to set up a development staging area to do so as I can’t do that on the production site. I’ll update here when I have a chance to do that.
It looks as though we’ve had a lot of submission since noticing the errors and I don’t see any organizers set as ‘draft’ so maybe the issue has resolved itself of there was some sort of user error during submission.
Thanks for your help.

ParticipantThanks for the update Matt – I’m glad things have seemingly worked with your recent submissions!
If you’re comfortable with this for now and don’t want to setup a whole other development staging area and all that, that’s totally fine and we can just consider this a weird fluke issue, in which case I’ll close up this thread for now and we can hope the problems stay resolved 🙂
Even in that case, though, if the issue comes back at all just open a new thread and link back to this thread for reference; we’ll pick up right where we left off!
Cheers,

ParticipantHey George,
I think I’m good closing this one out. We haven’t seen it happen for a while. Should we have issues again I’ll just open up a new one and link back to this thread.
Thanks!

ParticipantSounds good Matt, thanks for the update. I’ll close this thread, but if issues arise open a new thread any time with a link back to this one 🙂
Cheers!
