The default ‘upcoming events’ page shows events from months ago at the top instead of current listings. Also, selecting a date from the search bar doesn’t jump to that date despite the page reloading and sometimes switching to an entirely different date.

I would love to help you with this. That certainly sounds odd. It is possible another plugin is setting the query var eventDate to something in the past, causing both of these issues.
Would you mind grabbing your system information and pasting it here? Make sure to use the ‘Set as private reply’ checkbox to protect your private information from the public. You can find the system info by going to WP Admin > Events > Settings, clicking on the “Help” tab, and scrolling down to the ‘System Information’ box. (Or by going to [yoursite]/wp-admin/edit.php?post_type=tribe_events&page=tribe-events-calendar&tab=help) That will give me a lot of extra information to help diagnose the problem.
Also we could jump start the diagnosing by trying a conflict test. This guide walks you through how to test for a conflict, and then identify what is conflicting. This will likely be the best place to start. However after you share your system info I will use that date to examine your site and see if I can find anything. There is a small possibility I will find something and can save you the ~10 minutes it takes to run through the above test. So if you prefer to wait on that I understand!

That is exactly the problem. I had no idea the events were being entered like that. Thank you so much for figuring that out, it was driving me crazy. ?
