Hi. I see there are loads of threads relating to this issue already and it seems the last update was in November that related to development in progress, so I thought I’d best start a new thread here. I was alerted by email through Google Webmaster Tools just now of an increase in 404 errors on my site. I logged in an was surprised to see 1,223 errors relating to ‘not found’. Whoa – I nearly fell off my chair! There are no ‘soft 404’ errors. I am displaying the month view but have ‘day’ etc. checked also. Any events listed show fine, and there is nothing to click on in empty days so I don’t get any error messages at all at the front end. Can you advise? I want to keep Google happy! As it stands, I’m wondering if I should delete the plugins as I don’t want my rankings to be penalised, but I’m sure you’ll come back with something positive! Cheers. G

To add – the errors relate to years gone by (I only installed this plugin a few weeks ago) and future years (such as 2012 and 2015), including this year. Odd, right?!

To further add – I now notice your forum has posts relating this as recent as a few days ago. I couldn’t see any workaround. A sample of what I see in my Google Webmaster Tools report as 404 errors (x over 1,000):

    Graeme,
Thanks for reaching out! Sorry to hear you’re having trouble here, but hopefully I can help. What’s the actual URL to your Events Calendar page? When I visit your site and click on ‘Events’ it says your calendar is coming soon. Just let me know what the URL is to your calendar so I can investigate further. Thanks! 🙂

It looks like I have a related problem. Google Webmaster Tools reports “increasing soft 404 errors”.

    My Calendar is

    Automessen 2020

some of the reported URLs are
    http://www.kfz.net/messen/kategorie/wohnmobil/2026-02/
    http://www.kfz.net/messen/kategorie/oldtimertreffen/1949-09/
    http://www.kfz.net/messen/kategorie/oldtimertreffen/1982-02/

    Possible fixes:
    1) do not create Links/pages where there is no content/calendar entry.
    2) If a page with no content / Calendar entry shows up, set <meta name=”robots” content=”noindex”> in the html <head> of the page.

Could you investigate and fix the issue?

    autoschieber,
Would you mind posting your issue in a separate thread so we can track it separately and make sure you get taken care of? Thanks so much!

    Graeme,
We always hate to see a customer leave, but we definitely appreciate the honest feedback. We’re constantly working to improve the plugin based on user feedback, and are actively aware of (and working on) the two issues you brought up. I genuinely hope you have a good experience with the other plugin you mentioned, but if not, I hope you’ll give us a second look next time around.

Thanks again for the feedback and don’t hesitate to let us know if we can help you in the future. 🙂

    Cheers,
    Casey
