    Hi there,
Loving this plug-in! However I want to do some mods and I am having a similar issue as this thread:

    Missing Files after Upgrade

With the variation that after upgrade there is no “events-calendar-pro” directory in my plug-ins folder. The PRO features are working so I know they are installed.

Additionally the missing view files do not appear to be installed in the “the-events-calendar”.

From what I can see the “event-calendar-pro” dir are not appearing in FTP. I upgraded from The Calendar Events 3.8.1 (latest ver). The PRO plug-in does appear to work well though.

Any ideas where they might have been placed?

On a second inquiry, is it necessary to be running both “The Events Calendar” and “Events Calendar Pro”? I deactivated the free version and it appears to have had adverse consequences, though all my data restored on it’s reactivation.

Thanks for your help I will continue to scan the forums for similar issues

Hi there, William! Thanks for getting in touch and welcome to the forums. Sorry you’re hitting some trouble here, but let’s see if we can figure it out together. 🙂

So it sounds like you’ve installed the The Events Calendar PRO (3.8.1) plugin through WordPress and the files are not appearing on your server. That’s definitely odd!

Look in the plugins folder. In your FTP application, head over to the root directory for your WordPress <span style=”line-height: 13px;”>installation and then go to /wp-content/plugins. Check to see you have the following two plugins installed:</span>

    • the-events-calendar
    • events-calendar-pro

Are those two plugins in there? If so, great! The files are there. 🙂

If not, are you able to extract the ZIP files for both plugins and upload them via FTP manually? That would solve the issue since you know you are uploading them to the right place yourself.

On a second inquiry, is it necessary to be running both “The Events Calendar” and “Events Calendar Pro”?

Yes, both plugins are required. The Events Calendar is a free plugin that provides the core functionality for the calendar. The Events Calendar PRO is an add-on that provides additional functionality (e.g. recurring events) to the core.

As an additional note, we suggest that the versions of both plugins should be synced. For example, if you have The Events Calendar 3.8.1 installed, then use The Events Calendar PRO 3.8.1 as well.

In your situation, it sounds like you would benefit from a fresh start:

    • Back up your site files and database
    • Delete the existing The Events Calendar and The Events Calendar PRO plugins from /wp-content/plugins, if they are there (or do it from in WordPress under Plugins > Installed Plugins)
    • Re-download The Events Calendar from the WordPress plugin directory
    • Re-download The Events Calendar PRO from the Downloads page of your account
    • Extract the ZIP files
    • Upload them via FTP to /wp-content/plugins
    • Activate The Events Calendar
    • Activate The Events Calendar PRO

If this process doesn’t work, then it may be something that needs to be tested further for conflicts, or something to contact your host about to see if they are blocking the plugins from being uploaded.

Give these steps a shot and let me know what you find. 🙂

    Cheers!

Just to follow up… The events-calendar-pro dir/files were definitely not visible on the server but functionality after upgrade to PRO was definitely there. So I took the easiest route first and think I got really lucky.

I b’up’d the site then ftp’d the PRO plug-in files (unzipped). I am able to modify and did not have to re-install plug-ins. Very strange but it’s working. Only thing I can think of was my directories were sluggish to update in ftp view and the files were there somewhere.

Anyway back on track thanks for the help!

Awesome, great work! I’m so glad that seemed to do the trick and thanks for confirming the answer.

I’m going to go ahead and close this thread, but please feel free to hit us up with a new thread if any other questions pop up. We’d be happy to help. 🙂

    Cheers!
