ParticipantHello.
Upon clicking “submit” page returns to a blank form, and data entered is not ‘registered’ into the tables.
http://festivalofpsalms.com/performances/presenters/addThis page is setup for anonymous users (I’ve tried all sorts of log in options & combinations, too). I’ve also tried it under theme 2011.
Latest WordPress and Community Events versions.
Can you help, please! (Sorry if it’s really obvious…)May 16, 2013 at 5:12 pm #48808Barry
MemberHmm, not sure there is an obvious solution here – can you confirm you also tried with all other plugins (besides The Events Calendar and Community Events) deactivated, as well as switching to a default theme such as Twenty Eleven/Twelve?
Thanks!

ParticipantCorrect – I tried with the other plugins deactivated, and with the 2011 and 2012 default themes. The list of events I entered yesterday displayed under “My Events” in the default themes but not in the responsive theme I’m using. Hope this helps figure out a direction!

MemberIs it possible any changes to the default slugs have reverted to defaults? Though I can’t see the form itself (because I’m required to login) it seems it should load at:
http://festivalofpsalms.com/events/community/add
And similarly the main events calendar is accessible at
http://festivalofpsalms.com/events/
(Rather than /performances/)

ParticipantActually, I wiped the site completely clean and started from scratch, downloading WordPress 3.5.1 and then Events Calendar and CE. I can load events from the WordPress admin panel, but not from the CE link:

MemberHi! Again, it seems accessible to me, but as per my last reply I am required to login (rather than being allowed to see the form straight away): http://d.pr/i/OKq
You mentioned that you had already allowed anonymous submissions – http://d.pr/i/18hR – so is this indeed the same thing you are experiencing or are you seeing something quite different?

MemberThanks!
So what I noticed when I visited Events > Settings > Community is that the Allow anonymous submissions checkbox is not checked.
If you don’t want users to have to log in before submitting events you will need to check this then hit Save Changes.

ParticipantDone. Still no event submissions registering from the /add link.

MemberI don’t see any obvious reason why there would be a problem. As I understand things, you have deactivated all other plugins and are using a default, unmodified theme (but correct me if I’m wrong) which is the basis of our troubleshooting process.
The only thing that stands out as atypical is that it looks as though your web server is IIS 6.x, which can be problematic when working with a number of popular PHP web apps (and to add perspective, the current stable version of IIS is 8.0 and that is itself 8 months old, version 6 is much older).
Using something like IIS 6 probably should be possible but I’m afraid there is a limit to how much support we can offer in that direction. Is a change to a more modern version such as IIS 8 or even to the Linux/Apache platform (which the overwhelming majority of WordPress installations sit on top of) a possibility?
While I can’t guarantee that such a move will instantly solve this it would at least put us in a position where we could offer a degree of further support – very few of our team have a working knowledge of the IIS series of web servers.

ParticipantThanks, Barry. I purchased a new Linux hosting service just for this site and all seems to be working well.

MemberExcellent – I’m very glad to hear that.
Since it sounds like this is resolved I’m going to go ahead and close this thread – of course please do create new threads as and when needed for support going forward 🙂
