ParticipantPerhaps not as much a support thing, but a feedback and request, since I think it’s by design. I use WooCommerce in with Event-tickets-plus to sell tickets for workshops and events.
Some time ago I found the buy-tickets div empty and didn’t know why there where no tickets shown since there where tickets defined. After some time I found that when I had copied the event I hadn’t changed the start- and end-date of the ticket-sales and so there were the ticket area of the event was just blank.
I tend to add call to actions to guide visitors to the buy-tickets div, and in this case and in case of f.i. past events, there is no tickets to display, but there is also no indication why there are no tickets in the frontend, making a call2action to that part of the event bit of a confusing experience. The button is meant to lead to a ticket section, but there isn’t one.
What I would like is some message to replace the buy-tickets content when there are no tickets available due to the enddate of the ticket sales. But perhaps even better would be if the tickets are shown like they are shown when the ticket is sold out / out of stock. Why not show the ticket without the option to buy adding a message to indicate ticket sale still has to start or is closed for a specific ticket? That would at least give a clear dialog. Some control might also be nice.
Just a thought, not knowing why this choice is made.
Kind Regards,
Hans

KeymasterHello again Hans,
Thanks for reaching out to us with your question. Let me try to help you out with this.
As a first, the buy-tickets div is always empty. It is just a placeholder to link to, it will never have any content. (As discussed in the other thread, the re-positioning of it with the forms will be fixed.)
in case of f.i. past events, there is no tickets to display, but there is also no indication why there are no tickets in the frontend
True, there is no indication where the tickets used to be. On the top of the page it shows though that the Event has passed (screenshot), which should make it logical that you cannot buy tickets for it any more. But I agree, it can be confusing when you have a call to action taking the user to the tickets section.
However, with a bit of customization you could easily add any message you like.
I do want to note that we are fairly limited in how much we can support custom development questions like this. That said, I’d be happy to at least point you in the right direction as best I can.
You can hook into this action:
tribe_events_single_event_after_the_metaAnd you can check if the event has any tickets on sale with this function:
tribe_events_count_available_ticketsSomething like this:

You can further adjust this to your needs.
Let me know if this helps.

ParticipantHi Andras,
Thanks for the workaround.
In case of a past event there is less confusion, although with a call2action a visitor may jump directly to the buy-tickets div and not see the message above the event description. So it’s more a general observation that the event tickets plus plugin doesn’t really provide clear information when tickets are not shown based on a start or end date of the ticket sales. Omiting the ticket part of the event alltogether may be functionally right, but is not that visitor friendly and confusing when call 2 actions are used, like you concurred. So there is a need for some customization. The snippet helps, but perhaps the issue itself is something to consider as a future feature.
Thanks, Hans

KeymasterHey Hans,
Your are right, it could be a bit more user friendly for sure. I’ll forward this to the appropriate people in the team so they can think about it.
I am going to close this ticket for now, but if you need anything else related to this topic or another please post a new one in the forum and we will be happy to help you out.
