Nice little calendar

Hello. One of your showcased sites has a really clean looking calendar. It concerns the one from UNC (http://events.unc.edu/). On my site I have one with grey colours, the cells are larger (higher), and the days of the week are in three letters (e.g. Mon, Tue etc). The one from UNC is nicely integrated with the website, has only two letters (clearer, less busy) and is a bit tidier as the cells are smaller. Is there an easy way to tweak this from the settings? Unfortunately, as far as I know, all the specific customizations that you mentioned cannot be achieved with things in the Settings panel alone. They would require writing custom CSS, which is a bit outside the scope of support here on the forums – but we’re happy to help you get started!

For example, an excellent place to start is our official “Themer’s Guide”, which you can find here: https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/themers-guide/

That guide will lay out how to customize your Events Calendar templates from right within your currently-active WordPress theme.

And all that may not even be necessary, to be honest – you might be able to customize the look of your calendar to exactly what you want simply by writing custom CSS in the bottom of your theme’s style.css file.

I tried to check out your site, but when I visited the URL, it said it was in maintenance mode. I’d recommend checking out the Themer’s Guide, and if you’re not familiar with writing CSS to style things on a web page definitely take some time searching online to see some examples and play around with it.

If you have some specific questions, you can either take your site out of maintenance mode for a bit or share some temporary login information with us here in this ticket – if you do that, just be sure to check the “Set as Private Reply” button! 🙂

We can’t write elaborate customizations but might be able to write some simple CSS as an example for you to get started with things.

No worries Edgar – I actually have not seen the BuddyPress issue, perhaps another member of the support team has responded to it (and if not, share a link to it here so we can get you help promptly!)

Regarding your customizations and such – thanks for appreciating the limitations of our support for customizations like that. I’m sure you and your developer can piece things together to get exactly what you’re hoping for.

If other specific issues or concerns pop up, definitely come back to the support site and search around or open a new support ticket – but for now, would you say that we can mark this ticket “resolved” since you and your developer are going to take the reins on customization?

I’m sure your developer’s on top of it, but just to say it in case: be sure to make backups of your site and database, and all your custom code! Never a bad idea to have plenty of backups. 🙂
