The “View More…” button at the bottom of our home page just gets a “The page cannot be found” error message, even though I have three additional events (in 2016). I did check the forum for the same issue, but no luck. I built a test event page and changed its date to find out that the home page will show the next three events just fine, but no more. The event pages do exist and I can “view” them fine from their source page that I get to from the Dashboard.
Thx in advance for any help. The site is active so I need to keep this theme and no deactivate the plugins.September 21, 2015 at 8:24 pm #1007337CliffMemberHi Bill. Sorry to hear about the issues you’re experiencing.
Could you please tell me if this same behavior happens at your Events view page (e.g. yoursite.com/events)? For example, if you go to that page and click to the next month, does it list the 3 additional events in 2016?
Another thought is maybe they’re in Draft status. Are you able to view each Event single page when logged out (or logged in as a Subscriber)?
If neither of those two options help resolve your issue, please describe how you’re displaying the Events on your home page (e.g. shortcode or widget). Additionally, I’d appreciate links to your site’s home page, Events page, and the 3 single Events pages (or some screenshots if the site isn’t publicly available) to help me assist you to a solution.
I look forward to hearing back from you.

No need to apologize. You’ve got a terrific product, but even with the best, “stuff” happens. So, here you go:
• Sorry, but I don’t know what you mean by “yoursite.com/events”? As you can see in the help msg on the forum, we are at http://www.rmhcsanantonio.org/ and “http://www.rmhcsanantonio.org/events” doesn’t get anything. The only place I see where three events show is on our home page and, as noted” the “View More…” button gets an error, instead of bring up the next events.
• They are not drafts. There are two future events, beyond the three displayed on the Home page, and they are both “Published”.
o Indeed, they are past events that we edited to change the date and some content (like the title) and then we published the “changes” to make a new event.
o Note: with the idea that maybe editing an old event caused the issue, I created a new future event (same info) to replace one of the edited ones and published it. No luck; it still does not show.
o Below is the publishing settings for one of them:
o
• I can view single pages. I logged out and used a “cut ‘n paste” URL (http://www.rmhcsanantonio.org/index.php/event/2015-chairities-golf-classic-sponsorships/) to view an event. No problem. This gets me to the event page, where I can indeed move back and forth to past and future events individually.
• We are displaying widgets on the home page, vice shortcodes.
o The “Quick Calendar” (“Events Calendar-mini calendar” widget) works on the Home page.
I can move forward in the mini-calendar to Apr 2016 and see two events, which I can then “view” just fine (just like with the pasted URL above).
o The mini-calendar is just above/right of the larger “Events List” widget that displays the next three events, but won’t let us “View More…” (see screen capture below).
•
• I put the home page link in the forum page, but here it is again: http://www.rmhcsanantonio.org/ . This is the page with the two events widgets.
• You can get to the 3 single events’ pages by clicking on an event as shown in the “Events List” on the home page or use the mini-calendar to get to a month and click on the displayed event.
o The mini-calendar will also get you to the two events which don’t show from the “View More…” option.
o Is this OK?Hope all this helps you debug it.
September 22, 2015 at 8:49 am #1007533CliffMemberThanks, that info helped.
1)
Your home page is using The Events Calendar PRO’s widget to display the mini calendar on the home page.
2)
Your “events page” is technically located at http://www.rmhcsanantonio.org/index.php/events/, not your home page. (FYI: Your site has the index.php in the middle (i.e. PATHINFO permalinks) — see http://codex.wordpress.org/Using_Permalinks#PATHINFO:_.22Almost_Pretty.22 for more info.)
I have confirmed with our developers that version 3.12 has a bug with PATHINFO permalinks. It should be fixed in an upcoming release (no ETA available).
The issue is that when you view your main events calendar at http://www.rmhcsanantonio.org/index.php/events/ then click to a different month, like October 2015 (next month), the slash between “index.php” and “events” gets lost:
- `http://www.rmhcsanantonio.org/index.phpevents/2016-01/`
and therefore the calendar’s not “finding” your events.
In other words, http://www.rmhcsanantonio.org/index.php/events/2016-04/ DOES display your April 2016 event(s) but `http://www.rmhcsanantonio.org/index.phpevents/2016-04/` does not.
Could you please go to your WordPress Permalink settings and tell me what they’re set to (or just provide me a screenshot)?
Thank you.
September 22, 2015 at 11:58 am #1007598billhudsonParticipantOk and thanks for the new info; did not realize that about where the “Events” page actually was (index.php/events). I had to use two images to get all the permalink info:
September 22, 2015 at 12:35 pm #1007610CliffMemberThanks for trying to send the screenshots, but in both your previous replies the image src isn’t valid.
For example: http://www.rmhcsanantonio.org/?p=1044 is not an image file
Could you instead use a service like Jing or Cloud App or even Dropbox and try to share a view of your permalinks page again?
Thanks.
September 22, 2015 at 1:04 pm #1007617billhudsonParticipantI just built a site page to display the images; easy and I don’t have to sign up for another photo sharing site. Let me know, however, if you can’t get there – you should be able to as it is a “Public” page, just not attached to any of the menu choices.
September 22, 2015 at 1:50 pm #1007637CliffMemberThat worked well. Thanks.
Ok, so I had one of our developers look at your permalink screenshots and they informed me the fix should be in the next maintenance release, which should be released soon.
<p class=”p1″><span class=”s1″>We’re in the final stages of preparing our next maintenance release so you should see this very soon, but I’m afraid we don’t generally offer up specific dates.</span></p>
Once you see the next version released and perform the update, please update this ticket to let me know if the issue is resolved.September 23, 2015 at 10:48 am #1007944billhudsonParticipantFine for now. I’ll watch for the release. Meanwhile, can I “hide” the “View More…” button via css and if so, where. I would rather not have it show if it is just going to take visitors to an error page.
September 23, 2015 at 5:04 pm #1008144GeoffMemberHey @billhudson,
Just want to let you know that we just shipped an update and a patch for this issue was included. Please update and feel free to drop us a new note if you continue to bump into any issues with this. We appreciate your patience while we worked on this–thanks for your support!
Cheers,
