    Hello-

I have a site at http://192.185.193.26/events/ (It is in development and not live yet)

The events calendar will give the processing circle icon and fails to load when selecting a date from the search bar, and also fails to load when searching for “next events”.

I have tried all of your troubleshooting to see if conflicts exist. I switched to the Twenty Seventeen Theme, disabled all of my plugins. I updated to the latest version of WordPress. I deselected the “maps” option in the settings. The error still occurs at each troubleshooting step.

I am getting the following JS error:

Failed to load http://192.185.193.26/wp-admin/admin-ajax.php: No ‘Access-Control-Allow-Origin’ header is present on the requested resource. Origin ‘null’ is therefore not allowed access.

I understand you will not be able to view the site. I can access it using the Chrome Virtual Hosts extension.

Thank you for your help in resolving the issue.

    Best,
    Laura Mesia

    Hi Laura,

I suspect this is a configuration issue of some kind, relating to your test site setup.

I understand you will not be able to view the site. I can access it using the Chrome Virtual Hosts extension.

Is your test site/server running locally? Are you able to describe how it works, or try some approach other than the browser extension you noted to access it?

    Hi Barry-

The site is set up on my hostgator reseller servers. My client has a live production site at http://www.11thstreetcowboybar.com.

I have set up the site on live servers (not local) as http://www.11thstreetcowboybar.com, but the domain name servers are still pointing to the live site, not the new site that is under development. Once I am ready to launch the new site, I will simply point the domain name servers to my hosting servers. I have set up several sites like this without issue.

All other aspects of the Event Calendar are performing as expected, but not the loading of events. I did note that if while trying to load next or previous events, if I select a different calendar view (month, photo, etc.) it will load the next events. On its own, it just hangs and tries to keep loading.

The only way I can view the development site is by using the chrome extension Virtual Host. It allows you to enter a domain name and the server IP address and chrome will serve up the development site vs. the live site.

If you have the Chrome Virtual Host extension installed on the Chrome browser, you can see the site by entering http://www.11thstreetcowboybar.com in the VHost Domain field and enter 192.185.193.26 in the VHost IP field. The Enable box must be checked in order for it to display the site.

I have seen others having the same issue, but with different JS errors or causes. Thank you for your help in getting this resolved.

Amending comment in previous reply for using Chrome virtual host. When entering the domain name, you do not need to enter “http://” just http://www.11thstreetcowboybar.com.

Right, but I imagine the difference between ‘direct’ page loads and ajax requests – which is how previous/next event page navigation is implemented – are the restrictions on the latter added by the browser’s security model (given those requests are initiated from Javascript).

If I edit my local hosts file everything works just fine, I can page forwards and backwards on your event views (though I see a slightly different though unrelated problem which I think is formatting or CSS related for photo view) without issue.

The browser extension you are using works by cleverly proxying requests and so I suspect that is the problem. Are you able to do this by some other means, such as altering your computer’s hosts file? The very error you quoted (‘Origin ‘null’ is therefore not allowed access’) suggests something is being mixed up along the way.

Thank you Barry. I am going to copy the site over to another domain and see if the issue resolves and the cause is the chrome extension.

The formatting issue was caused when I was trying to fix the css to make the events show in chronological order on the photo view. Took me a few tries, but I figured out how to make it work. (I would think that right out of the box, it should show in date order regardless of the size of the photo event wrapper…I would suggest that as a feature upgrade.)

Thank you for your help. If I still experience issues after recreating the site on a different domain, I’ll be back. 🙂
