MemberI installed wordpress for the very first time today and purchased pro. I’ve been playing around with them and get the basic idea. I’m looking for a dedicated fully featured events calendar and nothing else on the website. I can see your plans for user submitted events which is great.
I’m at a crossroads and faced with a decision whether to go for a pure events calendar with paid hosted – initial set up and design costs and ongoing fees. This is what can be achieved:
Bedework – example calendar.
http://events.rpi.edu/main/showMainEnd.rdo
or trumba – example calendar
http://www.asid.org/eventsor to give it a go with The Events Calendar Pro. Again I would need to find a very good freelancer to get me up and running and that would have an initial cost, but with less ongoing costs.
My question is – technically and features-wise how far off is TEC Pro from the dedicated events calendars. If I can get there roughly how much would it cost to get the functionality and design with TEC Pro.
Thanks for your advice.

MemberHey Simon. Thanks for the note; while that’s a pretty heavy question, I will absolutely say that a solution like Trumba is going to be far more full-featured than Events Calendar PRO. (Though that will of course be reflected in the cost you pay as a user). Certain functionality of Trumba – their advanced search/filter patterns, for example – would probably be a pretty heavy cost to build; but then, there may be a third-party plugin that can accomplish it for less.
The costs for getting PRO on par with all those features would definitely depend on the developer used. While we as Modern Tribe aren’t in a position to do this work ourselves, we do have a growing network of freelancers we’re happy to refer to users interested in custom work. I believe we may have exchanged emails about that already but let me know if you’re a different Simon 🙂
