ParticipantHi Can I add a new organizer to an existing event such that they are able to edit that event? and how to apply to both Community events and events I have submitted myself. The key function I am looking to create is the ability to edit an event for a subsidiary user/member.? Also if I add a new event editor, are they automatically informed?
thankssimon

ParticipantHey Simon,
Thanks for reaching out.
Can I add a new organizer to an existing event such that they are able to edit that event?
Only users of your site with accounts can edit events.
At this time there’s not a way to make an actual user on your site out of an event’s “organizer” field.
Organizers do not have user accounts created for them, and these are separate things. “Users” can only be added with the sort of methods that are described in this blog post for example → http://www.wpbeginner.com/beginners-guide/how-to-allow-user-registration-on-your-wordpress-site/

Unfortunately, I was not able to fully understand what you mean by your question quoted above. Can you clarify what you mean here? Sorry to misunderstand, I just want make sure I know what you’re talking about so I can best help out! 🙂

ParticipantHI George
Thanks so much for your reply; I am sorry if my question was a little garbled. In essence I want to be able to enable anyone to create an event and then edit the details of that event. I think this is covered by requiring users to register on the account and then they are able to edit an event subsequently. Is that correct? Is there a way to limit them to edit just the event they have created?
second, on a separate website I have already gained some 150 members who want to hold world speech day events. Rather than get them to register again on this website I wondered if I should create an event for each of them and then invite them to edit it further. In other words can I confer on existing users the right to edit an edit – say by adding then s an organiser to that event? Or do they have to register as members first and then edit their event? Again, can I limit their ability to edit just their events not all? Thanks so much for your help.
One last question, since all my events will be happening on the same day is it possible to show events by location? Seemed so on your introductory video, but that option doesn’t seem available now?
Thanks again for your help.

ParticipantHey Simon,

Yes, this is covered by that feature in the plugin.

Unfortunately the users would have to register as administrators anew on your site. Sorry to bear this news! If they are “subscriber” users and submit their events from front-end, then they will only be able to edit their events. If they are a higher user level like “Editor” or “Administrator”, though, they will be able to edit other events and other site content.
I hope this helps!

ParticipantHi George
That’s great thanks. How about the final question: can events be displayed by location, as per your introductory video?
Best wishes
Simon

ParticipantHey Simon,
Can you specify what page on your site you are referring to, which has the introductory video you mention? I will look just to be certain I know exactly what you are referring to.
The reason why I’m curious is because it depends on what you mean by your question – if you are asking if events on the front-end can be shown based on the venue they are taking place at, then yes, and individual venues even have their own pages with an “upcoming events” section.
If you mean the Map View, then yes this is available as a default feature of Events Calendar Pro, and a demo of it is here → http://wpshindig.com/events/map
If you mean something other than either of these things, then let me know in a bit more detail…sorry to ask for more information, Simon! Just want to make sure I understand your query in full so I can best address it 🙂

ParticipantOk I believe on the video primer to Events Calendar there is an option to display events by location, ie on a map. That doesn’t appear to be the case on the basic plug in, so is it only available on Pro (contrary to your short video)?

ParticipantHey Simon,
Thanks for the update here. I think you are referring to the options as shown in this screenshot:

Is that correct?
If so, then yes, these options are available in The Events Calendar core, free plugin. You do not need Events Calendar Pro for these options.
—If these options are not what you are referring to, I’m really sorry for my misunderstanding! In this case, can you share a screenshot of which options you do mean?
You can do so by uploading the screenshot to Imgur.com, Flickr.com, CloudUp.com, or any similar image-hosting site; then just share the links to those images here and I’ll take a look.

I really appreciate your patience here, Simon. Thank you!
