    Hello
    My company originally had a 3rd party work on our site and now that I’m taking over the wp site, I just bought new licenses but in WP plugin, I don’t have a link to update the plugin to a newer version. What do I do?

    Also under dashboard > updates, I see a box that says: There is an update available for The Events Calendar PRO but your license key has not been entered. Please go to the Events Calendar Options page to enter your license key. And I’ve put the license key many times.

    Hi aling,

    If automated updates aren’t working please delete the license key from your WordPress site (and save the change!) then visit the Accounts → License Keys admin page over here and disconnect that same URL and any other unused URLs (if for instance you have a license to use the plugin on multiple sites).

    Then try adding the license key a second time. If that doesn’t resolve the problem you are going to have to update the plugin manually – the basic steps for this are:

    • Backup your site (please also ensure you know how to restore that backup!)
    • Optionally place your site into maintenance mode using a suitable plugin
    • Either by FTP or an online file manager (if your host provides one, perhaps through CPanel) access your WordPress site and delete the existing plugin directory from within wp-content/plugins
    • Upload the new version and unzip it if necessary so that it resides in the same place as the one you just removed
    • Check that it is still active (or reactivate if necessary)
    • If appropriate, take your site out of maintenance mode

    Thank you!
    Would updating it manually overwrite the current changes?
    For instance, there are 3 fields created in the ‘additional fields” tab on the pro version.

    Hi aling,

    I’m very sorry for the delay in responding, that shouldn’t have happened and we do strive to answer within a 24hr timeframe through the working week – though we clearly let you down on this occasion.

    To answer your question, if you have edited core code (which I think might be what you are referring to, based on a related thread I saw you had created) then yes any such changes would be wiped out.

    If that’s the case, do remember that it is always best not to edit core plugin code unless absolutely unavoidable.
