I have a few bugs I need to iron out on the site after adding plugins.

Starting with the header. After adding the community plugin the events page now has big giant space at the top of the header area. The calendar pages are the only pages that are effected this way. There is also a small gap as well. See screenshot below.

Secondly, I would love to tweak just two more background colours on events pages but I cannot find where these colours are being pulled from. They are the grey bars along the top and bottom of all views pages. The colour is #CCCCCC. I am assuming it is pulling this from my catalyst theme somewhere but I am unsure. See screenshot below.

Finally, I was assuming after adding the community plugin that maybe the “Add an Event” link would appear somewhere nicely so community members would add their events for approval. Now that I see this is not the case what is the best way to get this to display on main events page?

Thank you in advance guys 🙂

    Hi Davidrsm

Thanks for getting in contact with us. I’ll try to help with some of those issues.
Firstly – Did you manage to fix the header and footer issue? I’m not seeing it on my end. If not let us know what browser your are using as this may be a browser issue. I have checked in FF, Chrome and Safari. If this is a browser issue also let us know what version you are using.

Secondly the Grey BG color that is displaying top and bottom of the calendar looks like is coming from your own themes CSS. Without looking at it I’m guessing this is CSS generated by themes settings on the back end rather then a stand alone CSS file. In the first case, of theme settings, you are looking for a field in the settings with a HEX number of #CCCCCC, if this is a standalone style sheet the DIV that it refers to is “#wrap”.

As for the link for adding a community events. I would suggest adding it to the header of you navigation, rather then events search bar (I don’t know if this was intentional, but the screenshot pointed to the events search bar). I think adding it to the search bar could interfere with your users search patterns and would also be complicated to embed it in that location. From looking at your site is seems like you may have a custom menu for the navigation. Using the slug that’s already set up a s a default maybe a simple solution is to add it as a top level menu item via this link: http://coachwithus.com/events/community/add

Another option is in the setting of the Events Calendar plugin. If you head over to Events>Settings>Display and scroll down to “Advanced Template Settings you can add html before the event content via the HTML editor. It looks like this: http://d.pr/i/70Do

If you wish to customize the slug remember you can do that in the settings. The screen you need for that is in Events>Settings>Community, and the screen looks something like this: http://d.pr/i/J2RX

Hopefully this will give you the options you need. Let me know if you need help with any of that, I’ll be happy to help you out.

To answer the question about the gaps above and below the calender, yes I was able to get those gaps closed. It was consistent on all browsers.

I will keep looking through catalyst/dymanic theme and see if I can find where that is pulling from. I’ve changed css in many area’s already as the entire calender was grey when I first loaded the plugin. Let me see what I can find and report back.

What I was looking for in regards to the “add an event” link… I wanted something in the calender area and not having to make this a drop down from the main menu. Even a cool button same as the “find events” or “ical import months events” button would be nice. Maybe adding it to the left of the ical button would be nice. Something so it doesn’t look outta place but still easy to find is the solution we are looking for. Just needs to be user friendly and easy to access for community members.

Thank you very much for your reply

    Hi davidrsm,

Are you all set here? Was that last comment asking for clarification on where to add the code for a button (or whatever you decided to implement) ?

If so I would look through: /views/month/content.php. With the comments you should be able to decipher what code controls what part of the calendar page. If you run into any specific roadblock let us know.

    Thanks!
    Neill
