ParticipantI am getting erroneous error messages in the plugin management page that indicates I need to update my plugin from 4.4.2 to 4.4.2. I’ve purchased a business license and my 2 sites I am running the service on are part of my 6 site multisite. I don’t really want to go through the process of manual updates but cannot find the price or option to upgrade to multisite.
Please advise.

MemberHey Scott,
Thanks for reaching out!
Just to confirm: you have a Business License of the plugins, but have installed them on the network level of a WordPress multisite installation? Is that correct?
If so, you will indeed get some messaging that is inconsistent or incorrect because the Multisite License level is what is needed on a multisite installation. Let’s confirm if that’s the situation though and go from there.
Thanks!

ParticipantHey Geoff…purchased the business license, installed on the multisite and activated on the two sub-sites we are using it on.
To be clear, it’s only active on https://sandiego.socalvbc.com and https://santabarbara.socalvbc.com

MemberCool, thanks for following up, Scott!
Yeah, it does indeed sounds as though you are running the Business License on the network level in that case. So, yes, even though you are within the three site limit that a Business License provides, installing the plugin on the network level is going to give you error notices because the three sites are intended to be separate sites rather than sites on a multisite network.
There’s really no reason why you can’t continue to use the Business License — however, you will either need to disregard those messages or install and register the plugins on each sub-site individually if you want the messages to go away. Totally up to you and, either way, the plugins will continue to function.
Does this make sense and help clarify things? Please let me know. 🙂
Cheers,

ParticipantGeoff…feels like you are going to blow my WP Multisite mind but how does one simply install a plugin on a subsite? I can only install plugins from the network admin > plugin page and then activate them on the individual sites…which is what we’ve done.
I have no option on the subsite to install plugins.
Also, how do I upgrade to multisite license and how much is it?

MemberHey Scott,
Yeah, multisite allows you to install site-specific plugins, though you need to enable the Plugins screen for the sub-sites:
https://codex.wordpress.org/Multisite_Network_Administration#Plugins
The Multisite License is $349, which is a difference of $200. So, Business would be more economical for sure in your case.
Cheers!

MemberActually, scratch that, I was incorrect about the sub-site installation of a plugin. Sorry about that!
The bottom line is that you probably should have a Multisite License, but that you can still use the Business License. Our messaging in the admin is admittedly not great in that respect and may be something we consider revisiting down the line.
In the meantime, though, your Business License will indeed not allow you to enable auto-updates in the Network admin, I’m afraid. That is where the Multisite License will do the trick.
Sorry again for the bad info up front, but I hope this helps!

ParticipantThanks, Geoff…
The multisite license is for all plugins? I purchased the Ultimate Bundle so this would be an additional $349 on top of the $829?
