ParticipantHello there,
I am using the Pro version to create recurring events, however, it seems it is not working the way I intend it to be. Here is my scenario. My scenario is:
– One course that runs for 5 Saturdays. (It is One course, not 5)
– 9 AM to 6 PM
– Days the course will run are:
3rd Jan
10 Jan
17 Jan
24 Jan
31 Jan– Again, it is one course, and not 5 separate events.
The way I created it is I used (recurring event) that starts on 3rd Jan, ends on 31 Jan 2015, and repeats weekly. This generates a problem. It will show this event for the complete month, on every single day; which is incorrect.
If I try the (custom) option, repeats for (1) week, and select (Sat) as the day, the same problem shows.
If I try the (custom) option, repeats for (4) week, and select (Sat) as the day, another problem shows. If I switch the event end date to be only for one day (i.e. 3rd Jan, rather than for the complete period which is 31 Jan), and then, using (recurring event), it will show correctly on the monthly calendar, however, the other problem is if the user clicks on 10 Jan, s/he can not tell that this event has already started on 3rd Jan, and falsely allow him/her to register for it though he missed one day (3rd Jan).
So, how to create such event?
thanks

ParticipantHey,
Thanks for reaching out to us!
Based on what you’re describing, it sounds like the best approach is the last scenario that you describe above (creating the event for a single day and then setting as recurring every week).
To accomplish what you’re looking for in only allowing tickets to be purchased for the first event within a recurring series, I would create the recurring event without the tickets. Then, after the events are created, go back and find the first event of the series and click “Edit Single” which will remove the first instance of the event from the series of recurring events and allowing it to be edited on it’s own.
You can then add your tickets to this instance of the recurring events that has been broken out of the series. That way, tickets will show for the first instance but not the later instances.
Let me know if this helps.
Thanks!

ParticipantThanks Josh. This is how I am doing it, however, I was hoping for more solid solution.
Is this considered to be added on in this plugin?
Thanks

ParticipantHey,
Thanks for following up with us!
In my opinion this would be the best way to approach this particular issue right now. For recurring events the general idea is for them to be completely identical (excluding the date). To have an event that differs in any way would currently require that event to be removed from the series.
There have been some discussions internally about possibly creating a solution within the plugin to allow for recurring events to remain within a series but have some of their own unique details. We’ve created a UserVoice Ticket for this idea and you can vote for it if you like.
Let me know if this helps.
Thanks!

ParticipantHey,
No problem! I’ll go ahead and close this ticket. If you have any further questions please don’t hesitate to open a new one.
Thanks!
