Multiple TEC on one site?

I’ve been testing The Events Calendar as a replacement to the “calendar” we have currently. I’ve set it up and tested out it’s functionality and LOVE it.

I’m looking at convincing my employer to purchase a license and setting up a subdomain for our technology learning center to have it’s own little corner of the internet.
<br /><br />
Currently, we have a custom-built “calendar” implemented (http://www.microagesask.com/regina-application.php) that gives you all the info you need, but obvously hasn’t had a makeover in years. The backend is a lightweight CMS with no options to modify anything.. the entire thing works more like a data list. I’ve been approached and told that they want to integrate this existing calendar into our website revamp which has a more modern focus. I am not happy with this.

I’ll get down to the meat of it; Our calendar currently has four different data lists and a “confirmation” (the little green check mark..) option that allows us to show which classes are have at least the minimum amount of people to run the event. Here’s what I’d like to know;<br /><br />
> Are multiple, separate calendars something that’s possible with TEC?<br /><br />
> If not, does Filter Bar offer a way to link to just a certain list of events? (eg, a button that links you to the event calendar with just “training” listings)<br /><br />
> Is there a way to modify TEC to include this half-assed confirmation option? (I know the training staff will be asking for it)<br /><br />
> Can TEC data be listed outside of the calendar? (say I were to build a simple list to put on the homepage that shows only “confirmed” events)

Any insight would be appreciated!

Hello Jeff, thanks for contacting us!

The answer is a vague ‘yes’ to most of your questions. The Events Calendar does most of this out of the box, and the $65 Pro license offers even more.

Different Calendars

No, you can’t do different calendars (only one, typically listed at /events or whatever slug you choose).

But you can add categories and tags (they are just custom post types so have all the included taxonomies).

The Filter Bar can than be used to choose a different ‘calendar’. Checking the box add/removes categories that are shown. Sorry we don’t have a live demo of this!

 

 

Event Data

The Pro plugin offers a number of widgets to display calendar data, and its configurable too, you can try it out here.
