    Hi all,

    Here’s an interesting situation (that I wasn’t able to find a thread for). We allow users to submit new events to the calendar using Community Events, and it’s working great, but I was wondering if you can suggest a way to get around the following problem.

    Occasionally a user will submit multiple events for a new venue. (In Settings I have set the venue to ‘Use New Venue/No Default’.) Here’s what happens though: since the events they submit are saved as drafts, the new venue they create is also saved separately for each event, which means that once we approve them we end up with duplicate venues. Is the answer to simply be alert at our end, edit the venues and update those events accordingly? So we would delete the duplicate (the slug clearly shows which is the duplicate), and then add the correct venue to the event(s)? There is no way for the venue record to be created when a draft is submitted, right? If it’s bogus we would then delete it.

    You can see an example of this if you go our calendar, show the filter, show Venues and scroll to the bottom. There are five venues created for the Washington State History Museum, reflecting the fact that the user submitted five draft events at the same session.

    Oops, never mind. I tested this (should have done that first!) and it looks like you do save new venues on draft events, so this is probably an end user error. We’ll just try to catch the dupes when we edit draft events.

    I’ll close this ticket now.
