ParticipantQuotes from the site user responsible for Calendar:
” When I reset and republish one group schedule, it seems to screw up one or more recurring events. There is something not working properly in the update function. Some of our meetings were magically rescheduled from 2013 to 2014, and I would have to manually click back through the months to reset the calendar start and end dates previously set for 2013.”
“Group 2’s meetings don’t appear on the monthly calendars until May 2013, even though they are clearly scheduled to begin on January 10, 2013, and recur monthly on the 2nd Thursday.”
“This problem has been going on for the last couple of weeks. One day the calendar is fine, and as soon as I enter a new event, other already scheduled events disappear off the page. I’m done with the calendar right now to avoid pulling my hair out by the roots!”
Troubleshooting:
Since we have a custom theme, I would rather not change theme. I will de-activate all the 32 other plug-ins and selectively re-start and test while I wait for your reply.January 9, 2013 at 6:20 am #30491Barry
MemberHi Donald – sorry to hear you and your client have had these problems. Some basic troubleshooting points (I’m aware you are running through some of these right now but bear with me):
- Ensure your Modern Tribe plugins are up-to-date and in-synch – that means if you are using The Events Calendar 2.0.10 then you must also use Events Calendar PRO 2.0.10
- Deactivate all other plugins
- Switch to a default, unmodified theme such as Twenty Eleven or Twenty Twelve
- Now test to see if the problem remains
- If that solves the problem, reactivate everything one-at-a-time until the problem returns (it may not) – taking note of whichever component you last activated when/if the problem does return
I understand you are reluctant to run through those steps in their entirety but what I’d suggest if you don’t get anywhere by only deactivating the plugins is creating a testing or staging environment. This could be a duplicate of the site on a different hosting account or at a push it could even be a new WordPress installation in a sub-directory – that way we can A) see if it is possible to replicate the problem and B) troubleshoot without fear of disrupting the live site.
It would also be great if you could distil the problem down to a set of steps that we can follow and try to replicate, such as:
- Create a recurring event running from Date X to Date Y, every second week on Tuesdays
- …Do some other actions…
- Now view the calendar – we expect to see P but we are only seeing Q
That would make it massively easier for us to troubleshoot 🙂
Thanks!

ParticipantBarry,
I disabled all plugins and had her run a test, all went well. Then I brought back all our plugins and asked for another test. This is her reply:
“Don, I just went in again and created an event, published it, and checked the posting in a separate window. It published correctly on the dates selected (recurring event) and didn’t alter the rest of the calendar. Then I removed the test event and went back again after refreshing the calendar.
All seems to be in order! Whew!”
So, it looks like I have now learned a troubleshooting step I should do before contacting you. That is, disable all the plugins, then reactivate calendars, test then bring back the rest of the plugins. I’ll try to remember next time, OTOH, it’ll never happen again with this fine plug-in. I’m glad I sprung for the extra “Pro dough!”January 9, 2013 at 12:05 pm #30516Barry
MemberWe do our best to help 🙂
Just to confirm: at this point, it seems as if everything is operating correctly? If so I’ll leave this thread open for a few more days just in case the same problem crops up again then I’ll close it (you can always create a new thread in any case).
