ParticipantThere doesn’t seem to be a forum for Event Tickets so you might want to move this somewhere else, but I found a possible problem I wanted to report.
We use Events Calendar Pro and recently installed Event Tickets – the RSVP feature is perfect for our simple needs. One problem we noticed is the behavior of the Event Cost field. The expected behavior is perfectly clear and acceptable:
- enter a zero for Event Cost and the event detail page should show Cost: Free
- leaving the Event Cost blank should make the Cost: lines not display at all
Normally we want the second option (blank) because our events do cost money, but not a fixed amount – they include food and beverages so people pay at the end of the event.
The problem is that even when leaving the Cost blank it still shows FREE on the event page.
Today I discovered why this is happening. There are multiple entries in the database for _EventCost. One of these entries has a zero and the other contains a blank. As soon as I remove the record containing zero the Cost: Free lines are gone as they should be. As soon as I edit an event, just changing some descriptive text and leaving the Cost blank, the extra database entry, with a zero in the cost reappears.
Just to be clear, this is in the wp_postmeta table. When it only has one record where the meta_key column contains _EventCost and the meta_value column is blank, the event detail page does not show Cost: Free. However, if I then make any change and update the event, a second record will be added to wp_postmeta where meta_key is _EventCost and meta_value is zero.
Hope this is clear and helps you solve the problem.

MemberHi there @rstoeber,
Thanks for getting in touch with us to report this issue. We support Event Tickets over WordPress.org, just like The Events Calendar (core) and we support the premium add-ons here. That why you couldn’t find the right forum 🙂
I’ll share this issue with the dev team for them to take a closer look. Do you think there’s something I can do for you in the meantime? Maybe you can hide the ‘Cost: Free’ via CSS for now?
Thanks again for the report,
Have a great weekend,

MemberHey @rstoeber,
Before I run some tests, I have some doubts on this.
When you refer to the ‘Cost Field’ are you talking about each Ticket price? And when you talk about the meta, is that assigned to the post or to the ticket?
Thanks,

ParticipantNico,
I’m talking about the standard “Event Cost” data field. We don’t actually sell individual tickets, so the simple RSVP function provided by the Event Tickets plugin is perfect for us. (I don’t think we can assign individual “ticket price” anyway with Event Tickets.)
If there’s an email address where I can sent pictures I’d be happy to send photos so you can see exactly what I’m talking about.

Yeap, you are right I was checking this with Event Tickets Plus active, my bad!
You can upload the screenshoots to cloudup.com (or any other image sharing service) and send the links over in a private reply. I would appreciate that, the more details we add to the bug report, the easier to solve for devs 🙂
Thanks again,
