ParticipantEditing a site someone else built…….still kinda new to your software. Please bear with me.
Situation: non-profit needs two calendars. One for “programs” and one for “fundraising”. The site was originally set up so the “main calendar” appeared on the EVENTS page and it displayed fundraising events. Yesterday I followed the instructions to develop categories and custom links so we could have two calendars that only displayed the category that applied to that particular page. It was later requested that the “Programs Calendar” be set up to import a Google Calendar.
What’s the best way to do this? Would I:
1) move the “main calendar” to the Programs Calendar page, and set up Event Aggregator to import the Google Calendar directly into the Program Calendar; 2) use a custom link on the Events page that only displays the “fundraising” category? If so, how do I prevent the “fundraising” events from appearing on the “main calendar” (on the Programs Calendar page)?
Is there another way to do this? Am I overcomplicating this? Thanks.

MemberHey Christa
When you schedule an import from Google Calendar, you can also select a default category to assign that import from. See the lower right option: https://cloudup.com/cuBLo7mjdGr
You can separarte the imports into each category. Does that seem like an easy solution for you?
Thanks

ParticipantThanks Courtney. I appreciate the reply but I’m afraid that doesn’t resolve the problem/question.
The calendar we’re trying to import doesn’t include categories. All of the events on that calendar are specifically for Programming. The categories mentioned above were created in WordPress so we could display two different calendars using the filtering method we found on your website.
What do I need to do so the Programs Calendar displays the imported Google Calendar ONLY, and the Fundraising Calendar ONLY displays the Fundraising Events? These are two separate departments of the non-profit – they cannot share one Google Calendar. I have one day to resolve this before the grant deadline. I had no idea it was going to turn into something complicated so any advice is appreciated.

ParticipantI believe I resolved it.
I ended up adding two new pages and I used the [tribe_events] shortcode to modify what was displayed.
I made the “main calendar” the Programs Calendar, linked it to Google Calendar with Event Aggregator, set the import to categorize everything to “programs”, and used the [tribe_events] shortcode to only display the category “programs”; then I added the tribe_events shortcode to the Events Calendar page and set it only to display the category “fundraisers & more”.
I am a designer, not a developer so this was more challenging then I anticipated, and who knows if there was an easier way to accomplish the same thing. Either way I learned a great deal about your tools. Thank you.

MemberThanks Christa! So glad you got this working.
Most of our tools are designed with an end goal fo showing all events on the main calendar at /events. That doesn’t mean you are stuck sith that though. So glad you got this working with shortcodes to get the look you wanted.
Thanks
