    Hi There,

I’m looking at using Pro + Importer for a new project.

    Multiple calendars from one plugin:
I imagine we could achieve what appears as a multiple calendar scenario by using event categories and then calling categories into specific pages. I’m happy with that as a solution, unless there is a better way, but wonder on a couple of things below:

    1. Can we prevent users from being able to go back to the main calendar? We could probably just use CSS for this. Do you foresee any issues with this?

    2. Is there a way to prevent events from showing in the main calendar and ONLY showing in the category assigned to? I ask because we could have many, many calendars based on categories and don’t want to full up the main calendar with all of these events. Essentially, the calendar is for a brand that has many stores and each store wants it’s own calendar and the main brand will have it’s own events to show in the main calendar BUT it all needs to be housed in the same system. Is this possible?

Now onto the calendar feeds, just following up on an old issue:

    3. For the importer, the feed wasn’t bringing through updates to current events. So if an event was updated in the feed, the update didn’t come through to the existing event. Is there a way to allow the feed to ‘replace all existing events with events in the feed?’ so that we get updated events?

    Thanks!

    Hi there @jadecreative,

Thanks for reaching out to us – I’ll help you decide if our plugins are the best for this new project!

I imagine we could achieve what appears as a multiple calendar scenario by using event categories and then calling categories into specific pages. I’m happy with that as a solution, unless there is a better way,

I guess this is the best way of doing so. In fact I can’t think of any other simple way to achieve this.

    1. Can we prevent users from being able to go back to the main calendar? We could probably just use CSS for this. Do you foresee any issues with this?

You might need to hide some links as you point out, and maybe change some of them in the templates.

Sure it’s possible to make it work, but I guess you’ll need to set-up a test site and fully check if this is the right solution for you. You can use different hacks to hide ‘categorized’ events from the main calendar or similar things like that to clean up the main calendar view.

    3. For the importer, the feed wasn’t bringing through updates to current events. So if an event was updated in the feed, the update didn’t come through to the existing event. Is there a way to allow the feed to ‘replace all existing events with events in the feed?’ so that we get updated events?

Are you referring to iCal Importer? I see there’s a logged bug named “Recurring Imports are not updating changes”, the fix for this will be included in the new release (to be launched next month) first maintenance release. I have no dates on when it will be released but two weeks after the new version release maybe.

Please let me know if there’s anything else I can help you with,
    Have a great weekend,
    Nico

    Nico,
What would be the process to have the ‘list’ on a different page, other than Events Page?
The site that I am testing on is http://www.testlive.org and using the following URL for the listing of that category(casinos): http://www.testlive.org/events/category/casinos/
But displays no results. All I am looking for is a listing of casinos with their perspective demographics, without having to install another plugin.
    Can you please advise.
    Thanks.
    Bill

    Hey Bill,

Thanks for jumping in! I can give some quick tips here, but if you need further assistance please open up a new thread for this. Having just a user/issue per thread usually makes them move faster.

First of all, please be sure that you have upcoming events categorized under the ‘casino’ category. This seems to be the reason why no items are showing up. Also please note I’m not seeing any events at http://www.testlive.org/events/.

All I am looking for is a listing of casinos with their perspective demographics, without having to install another plugin.

If you want to list Casinos instead of events, maybe you can use ‘Venues’ for that. You can rename venues to casinos!

    Best,
    Nico
