Josh
ParticipantI need to be able to create an event that is say Monday AND Wednesday but not Monday through Wednesday. How can that be done with out creating like a Part A on Monday and Part B on Wednesday.
Thanks in advance this is a great plugin.

ParticipantHowdy Josh,
That is basically possible using the recurring events feature of Events Calendar Pro. You can create an event for Monday, then set a recurrence or extension of the event on Wed. The only other option would be to create a Part A and B as you mentioned, which wouldn’t require Pro but would basically just be a naming format and not actually tie the two together.
Does that sound like it would work for you?
Cheers!

ParticipantOK, so how do I create an extension?

ParticipantHowdy Josh,
You can create a recurring extension of the event when adding/editing it. First create your event for Monday, specify the start/end times and so forth. Then click on the recurrence rules, select custom, and select Wednesday. Tell it to end on Wednesday so that it doesn’t repeat more than once. And there you go!
A comprehensive guide on creating recurring events can be found here (click me).
Are you able to get it setup now? Cheers!

ParticipantGreat that is close to what I need, what happens though is the event is then setup for monday tuesday and wednesday, each day is one event and a separate event.

ParticipantAhh yes, thanks for sharing the config screenshot. Our exclusions are a brand new feature and they were sadly not QA’d as thoroughly as they should have been. We’re working to patch them, but in the interim you might see them not working as in your case.
If I were you I would delete the exclusion entirely. The I could edit your recurrence pattern, keep it as custom but set the Frequency to Weekly. Then just check Wed as the day that it repeats on. Does that make sense? Did it work?

ParticipantOK, so can you create a 2 day event on the site and set it up right and then I can use that as an example?

ParticipantHowdy Josh,
While I can not log in to your website (liability/legal stuff) here is a screenshot of the settings I described above.

If you choose those exact settings in the recurrence rules, you will not need an exclusion. It looks like the main difference is you chose a frequency of daily versus weekly.
Did that work for you? Cheers!

GuestThanks for getting back to me: Here is what I have setup and the result. Not quite right still.

ParticipantHave you tried removing the exclusion. I’m embarrassed to say this, but those just don’t work right now and using them introduces glitches. They were accidentally released when they were not yet ready for prime time, and we’re working to fix them.
If removing the exclusion doesn’t fully fix things, mind trying to create a new event using the settings I posted above and no exclusions? It should work.
Thanks for your patience Josh. I am sorry you need to exercise regarding such a basic feature.

ParticipantOh I just noticed one more thing, make sure the start/end times are on the same day as in my example. If you create an event that starts on the 12th and ends on the 14th, then the next occurrence of it (which starts on the 14th) will end on the 16th… Thus you will see multiple overlapping events.

GuestI can’t seem to delete that. How can I delete it?
October 6, 2015 at 2:51 pm #1012065Josh
GuestRight but it’s one event that’s Monday and Wednesday only. So create a reoccurrence for Monday for 2 days and Wednesday for 2 days? It’s essentially Monday 8-4 and Wednesday 8-4.
