Moving from dev server to live server

Hi there, just wondering is it possible to install Event Calendar Pro (I have the 1 site version) on my test server and see it working, and then move it to the live server without having any problems with licensing etc? It’s the same site, just moving to it’s final server once I am happy with it.

Hi Lucy. Totally! You can feel free to do this; the easiest way would be to activate it on the test server / plug in the license key / then deactivate the license key for that site on tri.be and re-add it to the new site upon going live.

Realistically, you don’t even need to enter the license code on your dev site. No functionality stops working without a license code; you just cannot get plugin updates or access the support forums without one. But in most cases there’s no need to enter the license on your dev site unless you want to.

That’s great Rob, thank you. One last thing from me. I have been searching the forum and I wondered if there has ever been a way to list event categories either in a widget or in some kind of dropdown action? No worries if not, but if there is could you point me in the right direction?

As it stands, there’s no easy way to do this that doesn’t require some custom hackery. You can use the advanced list widget as an admin to filter down to specific categories; but that hasn’t come on the frontend (yet). It is on our broader roadmap though so it’ll be making an appearance sooner or later. Sorry I couldn’t offer something more substantive in the short term.
