ParticipantHi, this from our client using Calendar Pro –
I seem to have a problem with the What’s On calendar as I can’t move easily from month to month to see the listings. It just gets stuck with a whirring cursor. The problem just seems to occur in the Monthly view, with List and Day operating fine. Have seen this problem posted before but not an answer, can you advise – thanks.
Btw – have currently hidden the prev/next buttons in Monthly view to avoid visitors seeing this issue.

ParticipantHey Jeremy,
Thanks for reaching out to us!
Do you have a test site where you would be willing to add back the month navigation links? My initial assumption would be that there is potentially a javascript error on the page that gets triggered onto the page and preventing the AJAX request from completing as desired.
If so, we could look at the developer tools in the browser when clicking those navigation links on the month view of your calendar.
Thanks!

ParticipantHi Josh,
We’re not running a test version of the site so have now restored the link buttons for the Monthly views, you’ll see the calendar on the What’s On page.
Running Firebug gives us
“NetworkError: 500 Internal Server Error – http://www.xxxxxx.com/wp-admin/admin-ajax.php”.Thoughts? Cheers, Jeremy

ParticipantHey Jeremy,
Thanks for following up here.
A 500 error would point to a server issue, however it looks like there could also be a performance issue here with the server not being able to process the request. As a step here, could you try enabling the month view cache for the site? You can find that setting under the Event Settings > Display tab.
Thanks!

ParticipantThat’s done Josh, but doesn’t seem to have made a difference. This is currently on shared hosting, so unfortunately can’t dial in any extra resources – is this link a particularly heavy drain?

ParticipantHey Jeremy,
On it’s own it isn’t necessarily a heavy load, however if there are a large number of events that are being pulled it can be. To help narrow in though, you could try following our Testing for Conflicts procedures to see if the issue persists with all other plugins deactivated and a default theme activated.
Also, even though you are on a shared hosting plan, you can reach out to the hosting provider and let them know that you have been experiencing some 500 Internal Server Errors and see if there is any more information in their logs that could point out exactly what may be the trigger there.
Let me know if this helps.
Thanks!

ParticipantHi Josh, FYI
I had a look at the events in August and saw that one weekly recurring event had generated 334 pages (over 6000 entries) due to the last two dates somehow multiplying massively!! Resaving the event regenerated the recurrence and cleared the excess, this took over 24 hours. Not sure how this could have happened (there was a rogue entry in the bin which possibly disrupted the sequence), anyway the original problem is now solved.
Cheers, Jeremy

ParticipantHey Jeremy,
Thanks for following up here and I’m glad you were able to find the root cause of this particular problem.
I’ll go ahead and close this thread for now. If you have any further questions or if you see the recurring issue pop back up again, please don’t hesitate to open a new one.
Thanks!
