    Hi,
We installed a new theme – canvas from woo themes. The monthly page that lists all events appears truncated and not at all like a calendar. Individually the events are fine.

We developed the theme on a mock site using most of the active plugins and such and the calendar appeared there just fine. Also, when I activated the wordpress 2014 theme, the calendar there too appeared. Seems like something’s going on with the theme and the server? The mock site is hosted by a different company.

Here’s the live site w/ problem:

The mock site that works fine:

Here’s a single calendar event on the live site:

Can you please advise? Meanwhile, we’re working with listing the events on a regular ol’ page. Boo. Thanks!

    Hello barrybradford,

    This one is tough!

Just to confirm, the sites are pretty much identical on the mock and live sites? Mostly, the plugins used between the two are identical?

Clearly, the text of the calendar on the live site is being… stripped… and echo’d? Somehow? It almost looks like an excerpt with the […] at the end. This is very bizarre.

For future reference, here is a screenshot with the bizarre behavior

Ordinarily, I would recommend you search for conflicts with this tutorial https://theeventscalendar.com/support/documentation/testing-for-conflicts/

However, since your mock site is working 100% I’m not sure how much it will help. It should get to the bottom of the problem pretty quickly, but it isn’t best to do it on a live site.

Can you tell me more about the servers? What are the companies?

In the WP-Admin, at the bottom of the Events > Settings > Help tab, there will be a ‘systems settings’ box. Can you copy that and paste it into a private reply? Can you do that for both sites, mock and live?

Does this make sense? Let me know if I can explain anything else!

    Cheers!

    Hello barrybradford,

Sorry for the delay! This is a super bizarre problem, and we’re not sure we have very many ideas. If everything is identical between the sites, we think there may be a setting issue that is the difference. In you Events Settings > Display tab, what templates are you using? If you are using something other than the ‘Default Events Template’, your Canvas theme may be cause these issues.

Does this make sense? Let me know if this doesn’t work for you.

    Cheers!

    Hello barrybradford,

Nevermind! Turns out this is a well documented problem, please accept my apologies!

This tut should fix it, https://theeventscalendar.com/garbled-events-page-fix/

Does this make sense? Let me know if this doesn’t work for you.

Hi Casey — that did the trick!

However 2 smaller problems popped up.
    1) I cannot select which widgets to appear / hide in the footer of the page. All of the widgets appear. I tried to fool the Events Calendar by making a new page, calling it ‘schedule’…and before assigning the Events Calendar to ‘schedule’, selected which widgets were to appear, getting it how we wanted it. You can see that now — http://barrybradford.com/schedule/

But when I went to the settings tab in Events Calendar and assigned it to ‘schedule’, all my widget settings were disregarded.

I’m using the plugin – Display Widget – do this.

    2) When I’m on http://barrybradford.com/speaking-schedule/ and looking at the page, I see the calendar on the page as I should, but note that the item that’s highlighted in my primary menu and the menu in the footer highlights ‘blog’ as though the visitor is on the blog page and not the speaking-schedule page, which is also in the menu.
Do you know why this is happening and what to do about it?

    Thanks again.

    Hello barrybradford,

We try to keep our threads focused on just one problem at a time. This ensures that we are addressing each specific problem instead of a general group one, and not possibly missing anything unique your situation.

To that end, would you mind opening up a new topic here about your issues? If you could please detail in your own words exactly what your problem is (instead of just linking here), that will go a long way towards helping you get this issue resolved as fast as possible. I hope you understand our reasoning here and do not mind this extra step, we have just found it serves our users best.

    Thanks a ton!
