All months prior to November 2013 now show no events. If I use day or list views, all my past events are visible. But no past event is visible on the month view. All future events display properly. ??? Please fix.

Hi, renegadeartglass. This is a great question!

First, would you mind confirming that you tried deactivating all your other plugins and reverting to a default WP theme like Twenty Twelve? Did the behavior change?

Also, it would be very helpful if you would post your System Information, a detailed specification of what’s running on your site for our troubleshooting purposes. To find it, click on “Events” in the left sidebar of the Admin interface. In the subheadings under “Events”, you should now see “Help”. Click on that, and scroll to the bottom of the page that is takes you to. There, you’ll see a box with a black background. Please copy all of the text there using ctrl-a (Windows) or cmd-a (Mac), and paste it in a reply to this thread.

    Thanks!

I did try changing to the 2013 theme and surprise, the month view has the past events. However, my theme has not changed in the last year, and I have not had this problem ever before. I could still use your help with this, as I don’t want the near past events to disappear. Thanks.

Hi, renegadeartglass. Thanks for all the info. That’s very helpful.

Since it appears that various resources are 404ing, I wonder if that might be due to the ‘Wordfence’ security plugin or another plugin conflict. Have you tried deactivating all your plugins and then activating them one-by-one, starting with The Events Calendar and then, Events Calendar PRO?

Also, it’s worth noting that we’re on the cusp of releasing the next maintenance update for our plugins. It could be that something changes in it to resolve your issues.

Otherwise, if it appears that it’s a theme conflict, your best bet is to get in touch directly with that developer and ask if they have any ideas.

    Hope that all helps!

No plugin affects the issue. I contacted the theme developer and described the problem. They asked me to ask you the following: is your Events Manager Pro plugin compatible with all aspects of jQuery 1.10.2 ?

Please give me a reply on this that I can send back to them. Thanks.

Hi, renegadeartglass. As it says in the readme, we support jQuery 1.7 and above.

Is there something in particular that they’re concerned about?

Hi, renegadeartglass. I just thought I’d check in and see how things are going.

Have you heard back anything further from your theme developer? Also, have you had a chance to try updating to the 3.2 version of the plugin?

Hi, renegadeartglass. That does sound really frustrating.

I would totally help you if I could. Unfortunately, if your calendar is working properly by switching the theme to Twenty Thirteen, that’s a pretty clear indication that your theme is at the heart of the issue.

Without having the complete theme to dig into, it’s not possible for us to give a definitive answer, but it’s highly likely that it has something to do with the way the theme handles Ajax.

For instance, navigating straight to October (but not via ajax, i.e. the previous and next links) results in the events showing, plus a valid response is coming back when we do nav by ajax. Only, it’s devoid of events.

We can’t say definitively whether the theme is running contrary to best practices or not, for this one. What I can say it that your theme appears to interfere with the results of ajax requests, while WP default themes do not.

If your theme’s author has questions for us that will help them resolve the issue, we’re happy to answer them. The Technical Documentation linked in the right sidebar may also prove helpful.

Please let me know if that’s any help!

Here’s some further info from the theme folks: (In answer to their question below- I have, of course, turned off all plugins and I get the same behavior)

    “Hi Andy
I am somewhat confused at the plugin developers response here, your site is running jQuery 1.10.2
    http://renegadeartglass.com/wp/wp-includes/js/jquery/jquery.js?ver=1.10.2
And our demo site is by default running jQuery Version 1.8.2

Have you tried deactivating all of your plugins except the calendar and then checked to see if the previous months data displays?

When I look at a previous month in your calendar, there is no data being pulled into or populating any of the dates (in October for example) – how is that related to jQuery in the first place? Php is used to extrapolate the data, jQuery and AJAX are used to propagate the data.
    Regards
    The Pexeto Team”

    Hi renegadeartglass,

    Tricky situation.

There seem to be two key points here – namely that A) if you navigate back a month (in which case the new month data is returned by ajax) we are missing events and B) if we navigate directly to that same month, by reloading the URL so that ajax is not used, then it seems to be populated.

I’d agree this doesn’t look like an issue relating to jQuery versions or ajax failing completely (otherwise we’d be experiencing something quite different) but even so it does seem that something is interfering with the queries which run server side in order to respond to event-related ajax requests.

The question is, why? Thanks to your troubleshooting we do know that this only occurs when your theme is active. At this time there is nothing to suggest that this is due to any malpractices on our part and for that reason, unfortunately, we can’t help any further.

We do realize this leaves you in a difficult position but all I can say at this stage is that should it turn out there is indeed something we could do better here then we’re absolutely open to investigating further and making a change – but we would need to be presented with an argument to that effect. Right now this simply doesn’t look like an issue with our code.

If it helps we can certainly provide a list of freelancers and independent developers who might be able to provide the extra assistance you need to integrate these two products/troubleshoot further?
