ParticipantI reported this issue yesterday, and was able to troubleshoot after the client finally told me what happened. Here is the original thread: https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/events-in-month-view-not-chronological/#post-1186448
I restored a backup and everything was perfect, until I updated the calendar plugin and Pro plugin. Then everything went back to being out of whack. There is no rhyme or reason why it would do that. The backup was a complete reinstall to a date before the corrupt plugin was installed.
I of course once again did all the steps with 2014, 2016, all plugins disabled, etc, but the issue still persists. Thankfully, I did this on a development server before doing it on the live one, or I would have been in some serious trouble. I sent credentials to this dev site in a private message yesterday. Please let me know if you need me to resend. Everything in that message is the same and client does not know this site exists, so you can do what you need to.

Thanks for reaching out again with this issue. We have tested it and it looks like a bug.
We already have a bug ticket on file for this, so a fix should be coming along soon.

I am going to close this ticket to new replies, but the issue is still open and we will update this ticket once we release a fix.

I wanted to inform you that we’ve just published a series of updates to our products that fixes a number of issues.
The issues with Month View event ordering reported here should be fixed with these updates.
