ParticipantWhen my calendar first loads, it starts in Mongolia… Any idea why this is and how to fix it?

MemberVery strange! I haven’t actually seen that particular phenomenon before. I do see you tried deactivating all other plugins and reverting to a default, unmodified theme – did that impact on this in any way?

ParticipantUnfortunately, deactivating everything and switching the theme did nothing to change the load of Mongolia. Can’t seem to figure out why this is happening.

ParticipantThe problem exists during the loading of events. While the wheel is spinning loading all the events coming up, the map is locked on Mongolia. As soon as the list of events loads, the map readjusts.

MemberInteresting. I actually now see this seems to be specified as the map boundaries and it looks like it’s our code that’s doing it – why the coordinates form a box around Lake Baikal in the particular case of your site though I’m not sure. Let me investigate a little and I’ll get back to you.

ParticipantThanks! Looking forward to figuring this one out.

MemberCould you share your venue data with us?
It would be great to see what’s actually in the database that might be causing this result: if you visit Tools → Export and select Venues then hit Download Export File and share the result (as a private reply if you prefer) via a Droplr or Dropbox link, or similar, that would be fantastic.
Thanks!

MemberSo there are some interesting venue locations in there – one for instance is a venue pending publication with a location in northwest Thailand (this venue has a post ID of 1042 if you want to check it out). That is throwing off the calculations performed to work out the approximate centre region and it may be there are some other venues that are similarly throwing things out.
Of course, the fact that it is pending publication means it probably shouldn’t be included in the calculation – and I’ll definitely log that as a bug for us to address.
Sorry for any inconvenience in the interim.

ParticipantI believe I deleted the bad venues permanently. Still facing the issue. Thanks for your assistance.

MemberOk – the first thing to do is wait and try again: because calculating the approximate centre region is a comparatively expensive calculation the result is cached for a period of time (slightly less than 2hrs by default).
If that’s elapsed and you’re still seeing this – and you have also flushed your browser’s cache – please reply with an up-to-date export of your venue data, much as you did before and we’ll see if there’s anything else in there that might be throwing things.

Participantjust flushed the cache and it looks like it’s at least back to Minnesota. Minnesota I can handle.
Thanks for your help!

MemberHi there,
I just wanted to pop in here with a quick update. Although we were not able to get a fix for this into our imminent 3.3 release, it is still on the radar for inclusion in a future build. Thanks for your patience!
