ParticipantHi all,
I’ve changed the settings to tags are autocomplete however, on mobile it is just a drop down. This is a huge problem as my site already has loads of tags. Is this just a bit of a bug or can you not get the autocomplete on mobile?
Thanks

ParticipantHowdy James,
I would love to assist here. First I want to make sure I understand where you are seeing this. What page is it? Is it in the WP Admin area? Can you share a screenshot or describe a little more where the automcomplete box is not appearing?
Thank you!

ParticipantNo worries! Thanks for clarifying.
After a little investigation it looks like we are purposefully not loading the autocomplete on certain mobile browsers because the autocomplete would not work with those devices. So this would not actually be a bug. I can see what you mean though. Other websites have tons of tags and need autocomplete for that field to be useful. Adding support for mobile browsers, either by using a different autocomplete lib or building our own, would be a nice value add.
Would you be interested in suggesting this as a feature so interested folks could find and vote on it? We are testing out a new feature submission form over here: https://goo.gl/forms/7meVXBJaR6FjWBRJ2 If you submit the idea we will take it from there. And if you have any feedback on the form please let me know!
Does that all make sense and answer your questions?
Cheers!

ParticipantHi,
Sure I will add it when I get a chance.
Maybe a temporary solution would be to have a standard text field? If a user searches for a tag that doesn’t exist it just comes with a notice saying “sorry no tags” or something?
Would do the job for now, cant imagine thats too difficult to implement?
Thanks

ParticipantTo create a nice dismissable message or toast we are probably talking about half as much work as an autocomplete. More importantly thought the autocomplete box is the “WordPress way” of handling tags, so it would be nice to stick to that. Likely the only thing we’d be interested in implementing would be the standard WordPress autocomplete, as we already have. In this case we just want to get it working on mobile.
Thanks for suggesting that. Sorry if a form is a bit long or a pain, we are just testing out some different ways of accepting feature requests with a goal towards making more of the feature requests implementable.
