    Hello,
after updating the events calendar and the community events plugin to version 4.2 my language translation is not working properly anymore.
It seems to mix the English and German version. For example “eventsimage” ist translated into “eventsbild” (bild is German for image) but it should be veranstaltungsbild. Also in the backend it doesn’t change anything at all. All explanation is still in English.

I found out that the problem existed already on older versions, so I downloaded the newest translation files (both 100% translated) for both events and community events calendar and uploaded them to my server. But it didn’t change anything.
I also tested for conflicts with other plugins or my theme but there are none.
Do you have any idea what else I could try?
    I appreciate all help.
    Thanks a lot.

    Hi there Michael,

Thanks a lot for reaching out and sorry to hear about this issue 🙁

Can you please try the following?

    • Disable all plugins other than ours and set default theme
    • Update the plugins to latest version 4.2.1. That should include the latest translations files.
    • Once that’s done please switch your site language to English and see if the plugins are showing up correctly in this language.
    • Finally change the site language to German again.

Please let me know how this goes,
    Best,
    Nico

    Hey Nico,
thanks for your answer but unfortunately it didn’t solve the problem.
I updated to 4.2.1, disabled all plugins used the Twenty Sixteen theme and still, when switching from English to German nothing happens in the backend (it does for the other plugins) and in the frontend the language is still mixed.

Do you have any other idea.
    Thanks for your help.

    Hey Michael,

Still not sure about it but thanks for the tests. Just a confirmation, when everything was set to English did it work as expected (in English I mean)? Does this happen when using the core plugin or when you use both?

Also, it would be great if you could share your system information with me so I can check if everything looks right on that end.

Can you check if you have a WPLANG value set in your wp-config.php file?

Sorry for not having a solution for it still not sure about it.

    Thanks,
    Nico

    Hi Nico,

in English everything works fine. And the problem happens both times, when using the core plugin alone and when using it with community events. I also have set the WPLANG to de_DE.
Here is the system information from the staging website. But the problem is the same on the live version. Also on the live version the community events plugin has a license.

    Hey Nico,
just a quick update: I went back to the version 4.1.4 and it works perfectly again.
I could downgrade on my live version as well, but I would of course appreciate if I could use the latest version of the plugin.

    Thanks,
    Michael

    Hi Michael,

Thanks so much for the heads-up! We received a couple of more reports on translations malfunctioning during the weekend, and it seems that something went wrong in 4.2 indeed.

We are actively looking into this issue to get more info and a workaround. For now downgrading is in fact the best solution!

I’ll set the status to ‘Pending Fix’ and will give you some more info when we discover what’s up!

    Best,
    Nico

    Hi there,

Just wanted to inform you that yesterday we released a hot fix for the translation issues introduced in version 4.2. Please go ahead and update to The Events Calendar 4.2.1.1 and/or Event Tickets 4.2.1.1. After doing so the translation issues should be gone!

Read more about this release here → Release: The Events Calendar and Event Tickets 4.2.1.1

Thanks for the patience while we worked on this issue,
    Nico
