ParticipantHi, the mini calendar widget used to be able to be changed to the next month but now it doesn’t. If I try a different theme eg TwentyTen it works okay. Unless you can suggest anything else it would appear that I have two options – Roll back to an Events Calendar version where it used to work or change theme. What is the easiset way of rolling back? I have got out of synch before with the two plug ins – Events Calendar and Events Calendar Pro Thanks

ParticipantHey perthmorrismen,
It does sound like there’s a conflict between your theme and the latest version of the plugin. So rolling back to a previous, working, version makes sense. Go to the Account Central item in the menu at the top of this page and select Downloads. Grab a copy of the last version that was working for you. You probably will want to grab the same version of both plugins (The Events Calendar and Events Calendar PRO). Then…
BACKUP YOUR SITE.
OK. With that done, you can deactivate the plugins. You may not need to delete them – just rename them to avoid confusion. Then upload / install / activate the older versions and see if everything’s back in working order.
I don’t know how comfortable you are with setting up testing/staging sites, but if you are this might be a good place for one just to see how it goes before doing it on your live site. I don’t foresee any problems, but there are a lot of variables involved.
Does that make sense? Can you give that a try?
Also, you may want to contact your theme developer for help in identifying the conflict. Eliminating it would be a nice solution too.

ParticipantHi Julie, I hit a stumbling block. I went to account central and selected Events Pro version 3.3 and clicked on Download. The message at the bottom of the screen said did I want to open or save Version 3.4. It didn’t matter which version I selected – it still wanted to download version 3.4. Any thoughts? Thanks

ParticipantHey perthmorrismen,
Were you on this screen? https://cloudup.com/cQj3C7UzzeS Because that sounds weird. “Open” shouldn’t even be an option.
Can you verify that for me?

ParticipantHey perthmorrismen,
OK. Same thing. I’ve tried downloading numerous older versions and they all seem to be downloading for me. So, you select version 3.3 of PRO and click the Download button – and then what happens? You get a message of some sort? Any chance you can get a screenshot of it?

ParticipantNo error message – just Open or save 3.4 zip regardless of what I selected.
How do you post a screenshot to this blog? I have often thought that would be really useful.February 25, 2014 at 4:30 pm #109442Julie Kuehl
ParticipantHey perthmorrismen,
Well, we used to recommend Droplr to do that, but they’ve recently changed their service. Will any of these work for you? http://www.ghacks.net/2014/01/03/droplr-drops-free-accounts-alternatives/ Or there’s this as an alternative: http://gregrickaby.com/use-dropbox-exactly-like-droplr/
Will one of those work?

ParticipantHey perthmorrismen,
OK, a bunch of questions here. Windows or Mac or Linux? Which operating system are your using? Which browser? Do you have a download manager in place? Antivirus or malware checker?Anything else that you can think of that might be relevant as far as your setup?
That download message at the bottom of the screen is not something we control, but maybe we can figure out why it’s picking up the wrong version.

ParticipantHi Julie, Windows Vista Home Premium, I use Google. Microoft Security Essentials, Malwarebytes. It is odd – I was able to download the previus version of Events Calendar and I have done the same with other plugins but just not Pro.

ParticipantHey perthmorrismen,
This behavior seems to be quite specific to your setup. We’ve not been able to replicate it here. Have you tried a different browser or a different machine? I’m not sure there’s much more I can do to help you at this point.
