ParticipantHi guys,
I’m in the process of migrating a site full of events (over 1000) to a new site and I’m having problems. The export file is quite large – 63MB and takes forever to upload and then only a few of the events come over. I’m loath to try again because I think I may get duplicate events as there are some events now loaded on the new site.
Is there a work around for a large numbers of events? I really need to make this work because a lot of the events were added through the community events registration plugin on the original site. Once I have them all over, the old site will be decommissioned and the community events registration plugin will be added to the new site. I only have one licence for that one.
Your assistance would be greatly appreciated.

ParticipantWhoops, there are actually over 3000 events 🙂 I deleted the 500 that imported when I first tried, took a while but they’re all out of the system now.

KeymasterHi Dermot,
Thanks for reaching out!
To export/import just events, you could try something like WP All Export to do it via CSV. Otherwise, if you are exporting the database from your old site and importing it into your new site, that should work as well…does it eventually just freeze up doing it this way? If so, I would recommend leaving events out and then try doing them as described before via CSV.
Let me know if that works any better!
Thanks,
Jennifer

ParticipantHi Jennifer,
thanks for getting back to me. I did what you said and started to import the events via the CSV option. There were 3351 events and it hung on 3320! I’ve sent an email to the developers but I don’t think it’s worked. I’ll try again when they get back to me and see if it was just a server glitch. Even though it says it’s imported 3320 events none of them are currently showing on my site which is actually a relief as I won’t have to delete them all 🙂
Cheers,
Dermot

KeymasterHi Dermot,
I’m sorry it’s still getting stuck! Could you please send me a copy of the CSV file you are using so that I can do some testing on my end? Also, could you try importing a smaller number of events (say 100) and see if that works or if that gets stuck as well?
Thanks,
Jennifer
