ParticipantHello,
we have just upgraded a project to the The Events Calendar Pro-version,
now it’s showing 800+ Venues and 1000+ Organizers!
How can this be cleared up? Don’t tell me comparing this almost 2000 entries one by one by hand, keep one of these and update each event with the only left unique vendor/organizer 😉 this would need much too much time.
Is it save to clear the tables of venues and organizers and start with empty tables so each venue/organizer will be created once and can be choosen from now on? Or will we loose the venues/organizers from the previous configured events.
Just leave it as it is is also no solution, try to find the correct entry in a pulldown-menu of 1000 entries, most with the same name and content.Looking forward to hear a sensible solution for that, cheers!

ParticipantI now compared some of them, the ones with the same name do also have the same values in their fields, only slug differs,
so merging should be quite easy?January 14, 2013 at 5:35 am #30723Barry
MemberHi Bernhard. I suspect this is a bit of an oversight and I don’t currently think there are any methods of resolving this other than a custom script or working through it manually – but I appreciate that would be quite a pain, so bear with me while I have a chat to another team member.

MemberHi Bernhard! I have confirmed this issue and am very sorry for the trouble so far. Do you happen to have a db backup for your site pre upgrade? We are looking at patching this bug asap in the 2.0.10 version, and we are also looking into creating a script to fix this for people who did not perform a db backup. I will report asap.

ParticipantHi Barry & Samuel,
thanks for looking into this!Yes, I’ve got a backup, resp. I’ve tested the upgrade on a staging server, the live server is still on the free-version. I can start on the staging on scratch anytime.
Looking foward to the update!
(When do you think can we count with it?)January 27, 2013 at 7:32 am #31640Barry
MemberHi Bernhard,
Sorry for the delayed response here. Unfortunately our 2.0.11 release didn’t address this and we’re going to try and look at making it happen with 3.0 (expected to be our next release).
That leaves you in the lurch to some extent, we do appreciate that, but I just wanted to say we’re sorry for the inconvenience that’s been caused here and extend an offer of a refund. If you’d like to take us up on that please email my colleague Leah (leah at tri dot be) with a copy of your purchase receipt (simply to speed the process up) and please also link back to this thread.
Of course if you’re happy to keep going with our products and can wait a little longer that’s great too – but we did want to put an offer of a refund on the table to demonstrate that we really do regret this.

ParticipantHi Barry,
sorry for the late response, I was unable to attend. Thanks for offering a refund, I appreciate this. But I will stay with tribe’s Events Calendar.
It’s still my, and this page owners, first choice. We will be happy if this issue gets solved as it will make the administration more easy. Anyway, The Events Calendar provides the best output for visitors and this is the key point.I guess best will be if I import all data from the previous site to the soon released one, upgrade to Pro and leave the multiple entries for now, instead of clearing them by hand.
Sam has asked if I have a backup prior the update, would you recommend to go live with the free version and wait with the upgrade until the patch is released? Or is it save to migrate to Pro now, and use a script later? We would like to use Pro’s multi-event-feature and custom fields already.February 11, 2013 at 7:53 am #32420Barry
MemberHi Bernhard, no problem 🙂
Let me check in with Sam as I’m not sure how his solution is going to be implemented.

MemberHi Bernhard! I’m told you should be safe to use Events Calendar PRO and fix the problem with multiple venues/organizers later on once that script is ready.
