ParticipantI use the default events template setting for my calendar. However, by doing so a user cannot navigate from the page. The header no longer works and the menus are disabled.
This does not occur when users click on a specific event in the calendar but on the main calendar page and on the events page. I would like to get the users back to the main page or around the site if possible.
I think this is a template issue but I have no idea what to do next. I use Robusta from NewWPThemes.com
Any suggestions? Thank you!!!

MemberHi Debi,
Can you login and navigate to Events > Settings > Template and try switching to the Default Page Template?
Cheers,
Barry

ParticipantI can, and it works when I do that, however, with my template it makes part of the calendar fall off the page without a scroll bar to get over to the events on Saturdays. That’s not so good.

ParticipantIt seems to me that it is something to do with not having the sidebars on the page. It renders the rest of the page dead. Except, get this, the footer. If you click the site name in the footer then it takes you back to the homepage, but I think most users won’t be able to figure that out. Plus, they might want to check out other pages and they can’t from the calendar page.
Thanks!!November 26, 2012 at 4:47 pm #28507Barry
MemberWell, it’s a structural problem really. If you use the default events template then although it pulls in the theme’s own header and footer it is – in the case of your theme – missing other bits and pieces.
So what we’ll need to do here is either edit the default events template (using a template override) or else edit your stylesheet when the default page template is used (so that bits aren’t chopped off).
I’d recommend the first option; perhaps if you could send a .zip of your theme ([email protected] … marking your email for my attention) I could attempt to piece together a new events template for you to use?

ParticipantThanks! I’ve sent it along to your attention at that email address.

MemberHi Debi – thanks for sending that across.
So first things first, read up on template overrides and then use this code in your ecp-page-template.php template file:
That should solve the problem, but let me know if you have any further difficulties.

ParticipantOk, I read the template overrides doc and created an Events folder in my theme – Robusta. Nothing has changed yet. Do I need to pull from that template now in the settings? I suppose if I had done it right it would come up in the dropdown. Hmmm. I’m missing something.
I guess this means – I am having further difficulties.
Thanks!November 27, 2012 at 12:59 pm #28573Barry

ParticipantHey Barry:
So I went ahead and put some html text in before the calendar on the templates page in Settings. I was going to make my own menu hotlinks until we got this figured out.
For some reason this made the menu work. So that totally works for me. Thanks for taking the time to help me out with this.
