Maps aren't working correctly

Hi,
Whenever I create a venue and input the address, google maps is not pointing to the address unless I look up the longitude and latitude and manually specify them in the coordinates area. The default longitude and latitude seem to be set at zero.

The first 10-ish venues input did automatically point to the correct location on the map (they were all input within the same theme that has been in place since before any venues were added, no changes have been made). Now, however, with every new venue added, the coordinates are all staying at zero, requiring manual input.

What gives?

Hi Tammy,

Sorry to hear you are experiencing difficulties.

There are a number of possibilities.

The first is that the addresses are not well formed or, for some reason, Google is not able to interpret them and convert them to long/lat coordinates. I did take a quick peek at your site and I didn’t on first glance see any addresses that jumped out at me as being “wrong”, so this may not be the problem.

The second possible cause is that Google is simply refusing to serve up geodata. Sometimes this happens if the daily quota for their free tier has been exceeded … though your own site may not even come close to meeting this criteria by itself, if it happens to be on shared hosting then it’s not impossible that – in tandem with other sites on the same server – it would run afoul of the usage limits.

Might that explain things?
