I have been using Chris Richardson’s MapPress Plugin since the beginning. this latest version of Events Calendar breaks my Google Maps that are provided by Mappress. Let me know what info you need to proceed. I have reverted to 3.1 for all Calendar plugins and it has restored my mashup maps.

    Hi Karen,

To help me build a better picture of the problem, can you point me to an example of where the problem would be occurring (assuming you were still on 3.2) and describe the actual issue you are experiencing?

    Thanks!

Hi Barry, I can give you access to the test site. Can you send me an IP that you will be coming in from?

Thanks Karen: so is the problem that the map on from page of your testing site is not populated as is the equivalent on your live site? Or is that simply because whatever source of data it draws upon isn’t present?

    that is correct.

OK, so I’m not familiar with Mappress. Can you fill in the blanks as to where it pulls the data from? Although I logged in and took a look at the Mapppress options via your dashboard I couldn’t identify a list of locations, etc.

On the front-end, I do notice a number of Javascript errors and so it is not impossible that they are impacting, should population of the map ultimately depend upon code written in Javascript, which isn’t unlikely.

With that in mind can you also try deactivating all other plugins except for ours and of course Mappress and switch to a default, unmodified theme like Twenty Twelve and see if the problem still occurs under those conditions?

these maps are a Mashup of several POIs that have google map locations for posts, similar to the Events Calendar. Since the Mappress mashups worked before 3.2 I doubt that other plugins are the issue. I can revert back to 3.1 and it works fine again.

The thing is Karen that those other plugins, or your theme, could be at the heart of the issue despite the fact that everything seems to be in order with 3.1. In some section of our code we might legitimately be using a different or new part of the WordPress API – that we weren’t previously using – but which one of your other components is impacting on adversely.

For that reason, it would be appreciated if you could follow those troubleshooting steps (in a test installation, if doing so in the live environment isn’t workable, of course). Is that possible here?

    Thanks!

Barry, I took it one step further and deactivated the Events calendar. MapPress works. Activated it, no worky. Unchecked Load Java, no worky. unchecked GOOGLE MAPS, still no worky. IF I could figure out this debug stuff, maybe I could be more helpful. thanks

    Hi Karen.

Are mashups a feature of the pro version of that plugin and does that have any bearing on this? Using the latest stable releases of The Events Calendar, Events Calendar PRO (both at 3.2) and MapPress (2.40.7) I can certainly create a map with points of interest and it displays without issue.
