ParticipantI can’t tell whether this is an import problem or a map problem. I’ve disabled all the plugins etc. I set up the venue, address in, check boxes yes for google maps. I check the name is correct for event import, import it. Then… Go to search, and two things: the map shows them off the coast of Africa, and within the Event the google map check boxes under the Venue are unchecked.(Even though it’s not realistic to change each of 40 events individually…), I check these boxes to see if it fixes this problem. No, well, mostly no. Under the event now, it shows the event at the venue, correctly, but under the map search it shows it off the coast of Africa still.
Ideas?

MemberHi – sorry you’re hitting difficulties here (but thanks for sharing those links).
The reason the map works on the single event/venue page is that it uses the street address in those situations. In map view, though, it uses the actual geographic coordinates to position the markers – and if the plugin was unable to retrieve the correct data for any reason it may consequently default to 0,0 (which is somewhere in the Atlantic, just south of Ghana).
In the first instance can you edit that venue and change the street address slightly, save, then change it back to the correct address and save again? Does that rectify this?
I can’t tell whether this is an import problem or a map problem.
Can you confirm how you imported the events and venues – was it via our own CSV import tool?

ParticipantYep, I imported, through your CSV tool. I deleted that batch of about 30 events and reimported twice. Same.
Though I hate to do it, I’m going to try deleting the venue and the associated events, create a new venue and see if that changes anything.
If you have any ideas… let me know. I don’t want this to pop up routinely down the way…June 12, 2014 at 8:07 pm #222041Barry
MemberIt would definitely be interesting if you could test this step on at least one venue:
In the first instance can you edit that venue and change the street address slightly, save, then change it back to the correct address and save again? Does that rectify this?
Could you also share your CSV data (perhaps by posting on Pastebin, Gist or a similar service – linking via a private reply if you prefer)?
Thanks!

ParticipantI just wanted to get back to you. I tried everything above, but it didn’t work.
What eventually DID work, was I disabled all the views except LIST from the SETTINGs tab, then re-enabled them. No idea why it messed up or this fixed it, but hey, that’s the fix!

MemberHow odd! Awesome you figured out a fix though (and thanks for sharing the solution) 🙂
I’ll go ahead and close this thread, but of course if we can help with anything else please don’t hesitate to create new threads as needed. Thanks!
