Map view displays only geoloc venues and events

Map view will only display future events for venues that have geoloc/lat-long values. Venues with only valid street addresses, including postal code are not displayed. The geoloc update ‘nag’ is not displayed.

Let’s troubleshoot this a bit. Please go to WP-Admin > Events > Venues > edit a venue that’s not showing in the map. Make sure that Show Google Map is checked (if not do so and save) and click on ‘View Venue’ under the title, that will take you to the venue page which should show a map with a marker in the venue location.

If the venue is not showing correctly in the map, then the Google Maps API is not interpreting the address correctly and you might need to input extra info like Country, State, etc, for it to work. On the other hand if the venue is showing correctly on this map, but not showing in the map view, that’s another problem we can dig in.

Hi Nico,

For venues that are not showing in the map view:
“Show Google Map” is checked and the venue page shows the map with a marker in the venue location.
The events also display the map with correct location.

Some additional test symptoms:
1. Removing the lat/long from a venue that previously displayed in map view: this venue’s events continue to display in map view. (tested with two venues).
2. Paging to “previous events” in map view: events from venues that do not display future events are displayed in the listing but their venue marker is not displayed in the group map. Instead, the group map also includes a venue marker at 0/0 lat/long.

Hey Jim,

Thanks for the follow-up and for the trouble shooting on this.

I’ve been taking a look into how this works behind the scenes and it seems quite illogical that the venues is showing up correctly in the event and venue views but not in the main Map. Can you point me to the URL to see this happening? I want to share this tomorrow with the team and that will be very useful to have for sure.

Hi Jim,

Thanks again for following this up!

I checked out the site and the ajax call is returning the markers correctly but somehow it’s failing to show them up in the map 🙁

At this point we need to discard any conflicts that might be affecting this, can you please give this a try with default theme and no other plugins active – I mean just The Events Calendar, PRO and Community? If behavior is still the same I will rope in someone from the dev team to give me hand here.
