    Hi!

I am using your The Event Calendar plugin on a site for a client and I’m loving it so far! I’m showing only the list option of a certain category of events on different pages (disabled all other options). So on the EXPO page there is a list of all the expositions / on the PERFORMANCE page a list of all the performances and so on.

The only issue I’m having is that on the listings if you click on the venue it says page not found. I’m assuming that this is because I have not purchased the PRO version with venue capabilities. But if I do purchase the PRO version (which I am definitely interested in) my only concern is – will I be able to show a list of a specific category of events on one page(as I am doing now – without offering option to change view of events to visitors) AND on another page show the map option with a list of all the revenant venues underneath (again without offering option to change view on that page)? Or do I have to pick a default calendar view and that’s the way it will display the events on whatever pages I include the calendar on?

I hope I made my question clear enough. Thanks for your response in advance.

    Best,

    Helen

    Hello Helen,

That sounds pretty darn clear to me! Nice job explaining the situation. 🙂

Yes, you can continue to display and link to a specific category of events with Events Calendar PRO active. It will do nothing to change what you’ve set up there with The Events Calendar and will provide you the ability to link to Venues as well.

Events Calendar PRO (and The Events Calendar for that matter) allow you to limit which calendar views a visitor can access (i.e. limit to only Map View). At the same time, Events Calendar PRO allows you to embed the calendar on other pages using a shortcode. However, if you were to embed the List View on a page but have only activated Map View in your settings, then Map View will be used in the shortcode in place of List View.

That said, you could embed the Event List Widget on a page and configure it to display a specific category of events. Then, when someone clicks through to the full calendar view, it will be the Map View, which will be the only available view for the visitor to access.

I hope my answer is as clear as the way you explained your scenario!

    Cheers,
    Geoff
