Many Users

Today I logged into one of our websites using event calendar Pro and community Event plugins. I noticed that there were 12 pages of users. I personally dont think that many people registered on this site. As a matter of fact I have permitted anonymous visitors to add their events (to make it easier) without registration.
Is there anyway some robots can just add new users (Spam etc.) . If that is that is the case how can prevent my site?

Thanks for using our plugins.

WordPress itself manages the registration system and it is possible to have SPAM users sign up.

You can turn it off by following these steps:

“Disable WordPress user registration. You can easily disable the new user registration from your dashboard. Just click Settings and in General Settings, you can uncheck the registration option: After clicking the ”save changes” button, your blog will no longer show that subscribe link for spammers”

But user registration is important part of my portal. Anyone posting event should register. I do not want anonymous people to post events.

Can we have user registration disabled and not have anonymous event posting. Can we use plugin like WP-Spamshield? What spam protection plugin is good in your opinion?

Hi,

We do not have any features to manage the WordPress Registration Process.

There are many plugins out there that do a better job then we could as that would be their focus.

This plugin looks like it is would work to help reduce SPAM registrations:

WP-Spamshield would work as well to just either reduce or eliminate SPAM registrations.
