Making the days on the widget calendar link to the days view

Rather than have the day’s events pop up in the overlay on mouse over of the mini-calendar widget view is it possible to just link to the events for that specific day? Click on June 1 in the widget and get the events for June 1 in agenda view. I’ve seen that you can sort for specific days, just need a way to give the users the ability.
