Making changes within recurring events

What is the best way to cancel/unlist a single meeting of a recurring event (for example, due to a snowstorm)? We had several events scheduled for last Tuesday when the Nor Easter hit. I went into each event found the March 14 recurrence and selected “Hide from View” (so as not to break up recurring events). While this was fine for the day-of view of the calendar on the day of the storm, it somehow created glitches with many of the Tuesday events into the future, so that I have had to go into each of the events and re-set the recurrence rules. Is there a better way of doing this? (I have not had the problem when creating a weekly event that I know in advance will skip certain dates due to holidays. I just use the skip date function and it works fine. But that method would not work for last-minute cancellations – maybe because the dates were then out of order.)

Hi and welcome,

All you need to do is hit the “Edit All” button for the recurring event, add the exclusion, and re-save. If you prefer to alter the title notifying users that particular event is cancelled, you would need to break it from the series and add the ‘Canceled’ label/category whatever to it.
