Make it so RSVP emails notification to the admin

When a user checks out with RSVP there is no confirmation email sent. I looked through the support forum and found this: https://gist.github.com/cliffordp/c4fb2ea8fb5ca44973ff06e6facc9742 however it did not work. When I RSVP’d i got shown an empty screen and no confirmation email arrived. How can I achieve this?
