Make all fields obligatory (organizer, venue etc.)

How to make all fields obligatory for Community events? It’s very important for us to make users fill all fields, especially venue and organizer.

Great question. The good news is that we have a handy tutorial available that will walk you through all the steps for how to change the required fields for the Community Events plugin. I’d suggest checking that out for a detailed set of instructions for this sort of customization.

Thanks, but what about categories? I need users to select a category for their events.

You can try adding EventCategory to the list of required fields in that snippet. You can pass any event class or WordPress post class through this filter.

It doesn’t work. I get ‘Event Category is required’ even if a category is checked.

Shoot, sorry about that. I thought that would do the trick.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t appear that the category checkboxes can be made required right out of the box. You might be able to pull it off with some jQuery, but it will take some custom development that is outside the level of support I can provide here in the forums.

If this is a feature you’d to see added, it’d be great if you could add it to our UserVoice page. We check there often for popular ideas to include in upcoming releases and I can see how controlling required fields would be a handy feature.
