    Hi there,

I’m in the process of building and customising a website for my new business which will allow customers to purchase places for software training courses. I have purchased and installed The Events Calendar Pro and WooTickets along with a whole host of other extensions for WooCommerce.

I’m looking for some advice on how best to use the plugins I have to make the site work as smoothly as possible. I appreciate there will be some significant customisation required to make some of my requirements work but I just want to make sure I am going about the basics in the right way first, and that what I want is achievable.

Here’s how things stand at the moment and how I’d like them to work.

    • I will have only three or four types of courses which will recur approximately once every six weeks but not on any fixed pattern.
    • I would like the Book Online page on my site which is the WooCommerce shop page to list a separate item for each instance of the same course for each date.
    • I would also like to display additional information about each event including the date on the shop page.
    • When you click on an event from the Book Online I’d like it to show a product page which pulls information from the event. A WIP page for this product page is here: http://www.thecadacademy.co.uk/autocad-courses/autocad-essentials.

    So here are my questions:

    • Do I need to set up unique events and unique tickets for each course even though they’ll have exactly the same information except for the date?
    • As the product on the shop page is actually the ticket – not the event – can I pull information from the event that the ticket is linked to so that I can show the date of each course on the shop page?

Any suggestions on how best to use the plugins I have to fit my requirements would be very much appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Jamie

    Hi Jamie,

Welcome to our support forums, and thanks for reaching out 🙂 I’ll help you out with your questions, and let me say you site looks neat so far!

Do I need to set up unique events and unique tickets for each course even though they’ll have exactly the same information except for the date?

Yes, our tickets framework doesn’t play nice with recurring events -hopefully this will be added in upcoming releases but that will not happen soon-, so you should create new events and new tickets for each instance. Once plugin you might find useful for this task is Event Rocket which comes with an event duplicator feature.

As the product on the shop page is actually the ticket – not the event – can I pull information from the event that the ticket is linked to so that I can show the date of each course on the shop page?

Yes, this will require a bit of coding on your side but it’s surely possible. You’ll need to override the single product page template -check this article on how to override WooCommerce templates– and retrieve the associated event information. The tribe_events_get_ticket_event will help you achieve that!

Please let me know if this answers your questions,
    Best,
    Nico
