    Hi

I was wondering if the Events Pro plugin offers location/city specific events.

So, say I have a site that has a list of events that visitors have posted and added to a city. The site has events in London, New York and Paris. A visitor from London by default would only see events from London, although they can choose another city. It would also allow for city specific ads, blog/news items etc

Is this something that Events Pro can do?

    Regards
    Ross

    Hi Ross,

Thanks for reaching out to us and for you interest in our plugins 🙂

What you describe is not possible out of the box. Events Calendar PRO comes packed with a location search field and a map view, but there’s no site-wide filtering of events based on locations. There might be some workarounds for this, for example using a category per country and redirecting users (based on geoloc info) to the correct ‘filtered calendar by country/category’ when they access the main ‘unfiltered calendar view’. This is something that will require some custom code on your side, but seems easily achievable.

It would also allow for city specific ads, blog/news items etc

Not sure what you mean here, seems that you need more like a global setting for this. I guess the work around described above only works for events!

Please let me know about it,
    Best,
    Nico

    Hi Nico

It would have to be a global setting. All content would have to be city specific.

Thanks for your prompt response, and have a great weekend.

    Hey Ross,

    Thanks for following up!

In the case you need all the content to be city specific you’ll have to think of a global solution indeed. Maybe using post tags (which events use as well) to filter all the content queries works for you. Again, this is definitively not something built in our product, but surely something achievable with some custom code!

As you marked this as resolved, I’ll go ahead and close out this thread, but if you need help with anything else please don’t hesitate to create a new one and we will be happy to assist you.

    Best,
    Nico
