We have been working on this project which the address I will mention in a private message later.
This problem that persists and that we encounter many times is as follows:

On the events summary page you can filter events by Location(near) and Keywords.
Both options seem not to work properly as they won’t filter.
    1. Search by Location just refreshes the page with a permalink constructed out of the information that we filled in the search box.
    2. Keyword on the other hand is simply saying that there are zero results.
    3. Search by date does seem to work properly.

We’ve already tried several fixes mentioned in other topics like getting the Google API key, set the coordinates, turn every plugin off and on, adding tags to events and increasing the amount of miles within event reach.

Also, for some odd reason, in monthly view our search button in the navigation stops working while in other views like list it still works. Like there is some conflict going on.

Maybe we are missing something, but help would be really appreciated.

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Andras,

Thank you for your fast response! Sorry for the delay from our side, we have been very busy.
We have swapped themes and it seems that there is something in conflict with our current theme as Twentysixteen works perfect with the The Events Calendar.

Text search is indeed working. But unlike in the Twentysixteen theme, it only searches in the month itself.
When changing month, the page and the Calendar refreshes.

With the location search we search by our city Zierikzee and Tholen. This works in Twenty Sixteen but not in our theme. Here too it refreshes the page when changing months.

    Hi artsites,

Thanks for getting back to me with your findings.

That indicates that the theme you are using causes a conflict somewhere. This could be the use of an older version of a javascript or jQuery. And also might have some custom modifications for the search.

I would recommend you to get in touch with the developers of the theme and share your findings with them. Hopefully they will be able to provide you with a fix or at least some pointers on how this could be solved.

Let me know about your progress with them and I will help you out if I can.

    Cheers,
    Andras

    Hi Andras,

    I found the solution myself.

As you mentioned above that it’s probably the cause of an older version of Javascript/Jquery, something occurred to me. I indeed firstly used an older version of Jquery because the theme we use, uses a jQuery version which wouldn’t allow us to write custom jQuery. This way we could build our slideToggle menu’s.

Then again, almost every variable in the WordPress javascript file system start with ‘$’ signs.
I Removed the older Jquery version and replaced ‘$’ variables with ‘jQuery’ so it doesn’t conflict with WordPress’s main jQuery files and still works without the older version!

Many thanks for your time to help me out.
And hopefully it will keep working now 🙂

    Kind regards
