    Hello
I’d like to make the default view list for the category pages which appear as sub menus under the calendar and retain month as the default for the main calendar. Is there an easy way to do this – I’m not a a coder just a user.
    Cheers Soosie

    Hi Soosie,

I’m afraid you’ve hit that point where in order to make it do what you’d like, you have to get under the hood and modify some code. We have a couple of resources to help you do that. The first is the Themer’s Guide (https://theeventscalendar.com/support/documentation/events-calendar-themers-guide/) and the second is our documentation (http://docs.tri.be/).

If you don’t want to go there, and you still want to make it bend to your will, you may want to look for a developer who could give you an assist. A good place to ask might be over at http://jobs.wordpress.net/.

If neither of those work out for you, let me know.

    Hi Julie
    Thanks for your reply.
I looked at both the Themer’s guide and the documentation and it may as well have been in Greek. It would take me a year to figure it out. So I went to the jobs section as you suggested but I don’t know who I’m looking for as the descriptions of what they do is in jargon of which I am not privy to.
Can you help? Can you recommend someone? Surely other people have had this issue previously. I didn’t realise that something that appears fairly simple on the surface could be so difficult.
I’m really stuck here. I have tried using workarounds like category lists but they only list what has been and not what is to come. So far the only thing that has come close is using a responsive column widget on a page and inserting the events list widget in that and limiting the criteria. But that means hard pages rather than the generated ones from the calendar.
As you can probably tell I am rather disappointed with Events Calendar Pro because of this simple issue. It does everything else brilliantly – some very complex things – but has let us down with a simple view default.

    Hey Soosie,

Sorry to have disappointed you. As you can tell from the “Greek”, sometimes simple things are harder than they appear. We try to include as many features as we can, be we’ve not yet gotten around to them all. If there’s something specific you’d like to see us work on for a future release, you can suggest it, or vote it up, over at https://tribe.uservoice.com/forums/195723-feature-ideas.

I do have a couple of recommendations for you. Try checking with http://enollo.com/ (min of $75) or http://www.iheartargyle.com/ (min of $125) and see if they are able to assist. Also, one other marketplace that you could check is http://microlancer.com. You’ll want to look for a WordPress developer. Maybe try searching for WordPress plugin and look for the people who are doing that.

Give those folks a try. And let me know how they work out for you.

Hi, Soosie. As it’s been a couple of weeks since your last post, I’m going to close this thread. Please feel free to open a new one if you choose to pursue this further.

    Thanks! 🙂
