ParticipantWe’re a touring theater company in Seattle that has 4 plays that have about 60 performances in 22 different parks. Our schedule is complex, so we like to help people find the show they want to see, and where they want to see it.
The current map view shows a label for, and link to, the Event on a map. But if there are multiple plays at one venue, it only lists one. It also doesn’t indicate anywhere what the venue is.
What we want: Many of our park venues are not well known by our audience, so the only way to show them what part of town a venue is in, is to show a map that displays ALL venues. In the past, we’ve done that with a static image of a map, but that isn’t as useful as Google Maps. We would love love love for the map view to have an option to display the venue name (not the event name), and link to the venue page (not the event). From the venue page, visitors can see a list of events at that venue.
Is there a way to accomplish this?

MemberHey Kenneth,
Thanks for reaching out to us! Interesting question here…
This is not possible at all out of the box, but I guess it’s possible to achieve this. If you have some coding skills and the time to give this a try I can surely point you in the right direction. If you don’t have the skills or the time, maybe the easier way to do this is to create a new map and add the locations, then embed the map in a page called venues or something similar – this tool seems useful for this: https://www.mapcustomizer.com/.
Please let me know about it,
Best,

ParticipantI’ll look into the map customizer solution and let you know if that works for us.
It seems that having the ability to view and link to venues would be crucial to the map view on the calendar. The different views of the calendar should reflect different ways to find the information about events. The list view, month view, and day view are excellent. But I can’t be alone in thinking people look at maps to find locations as well as individual events. This is set up to show events at a location, but while the the map gives the address for the location, it doesn’t include the venue name.
For instance, I have several different shows which will be at a single venue, and all our shows tour to multiple venues. And The marker on the map only shows the first event for each event. not all events. Having, at minimum, the name of the venue would be a great addition. I’ve turned off map view on our live site, as it doesn’t provide enough information to users, but I have it active on our testing site so you can see what I mean. http://greenstage.org/testing/schedule/map/
It seems to me, an option to list the venue on the map would allow users to have another way to find the information. I know this isn’t currently part of Events Pro, but you should consider adding that feature in future versions

MemberHey Kenneth,
Thanks for the follow-up! I can totally see how having a ‘venues map’ would be super useful for you case (and similar ones from other customers).
Unfortunately there’s no easy way of customizing this to accommodate to your needs and exploring a more complicated solution would be out of the support we can provide in this forums.
You are welcome to suggest this feature request at The Events Calendar user voice page, where we gather feedback from our community. As you say I’m mostly sure other users would benefit from this too.
Please let me know if there’s anything else I can help you with,
Best,
